To test try turning up the setting on the unit to check and see if the sensor is acting up or maybe the air itself is dryer and there are lower levels of humidity in the actual air. Either way turning up the setting to high should produce some water if not there is a problem with the units humidity sensor and a replacement senson should be purchased and installed.

Maybe the compressor itself is not running. Check the connections to the compressor.

Model 53701 purchased 2003. Hardly used. Has been on working fine. Shut it off to empty, pressed power to turn back on, & Nothing. Dead. It is not the plug Help barb

Barb, if thee water collection bucket is not properly installed or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the UP position, the unit will not turn back ON.

Remove the bucket, check the float valve's position (if it's stuck in the UP position, jiggle the arm of the float valve to make ir return to the DOWN position). When reinstalling the bucket, be sure it fits "squarely" from top to bottom into the holder, so the it will make contact with bucket safety removal switch. It should not tilt down at the bottom at all.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Assuming the unit is level look for a blockage in the drip pan outlet causing it to overflow.

Running but not collecting water

your coils are probably frosted up. This can happen from the basement temperature being too cold if you dont have the automatic defrost type of dehumidifier, or it could be low on coolant from a pinhole that leaked it out. Mine did the same thing and I had to buy another one. I bought one thats operates down to 41 degrees Fahrenheit and it is an automatic defrost type. It works good for my basement because I have central air which makes the basement even cooler and harder to dehumidify without freezing the dehumidifier up.
