1. Download and install Mobile Finder v1.8.0 Utility (Its a File System Navigator) on yout iPhone from Installer over EDGE or via iBricker's PXL repository (http://pxl.ibrickr.com/ ). ** Since this utlility allows you to even delete / modify system files, did not post this solution to ALL members on the Google Group. The phone can be "Bricked" if wrong files are deleted / modified** 2. When you launch "Finder" - it would show you a vertical list of all apps installed on the iPhone. 3. Click the tilde (~) icon on the top right corner of the screen to start browsing the native file system - just like in iBricker. 4. Browse to the same directory / folder where SMS.db is stored. Pls note: however the actual path for SMS.db is "/var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db", Finder starts you browsing from the folder named "root". So, please follow this: Tap Library => Tap SMS 5. You would reach the same location where SMS.db is saved. Make a folder here with ANY name like "Backup" or "SMS Backup". 6. Copy your existing SMS.db file to this folder. This is assuming that the current SMS.db is healthy i.e. it does not hold any AlphaNumeric message that crash you SMS app. Now whenever you recieve a SMS of Death and your SMS app dies and no computer is to be seen around: 7. Launch Finder within your phone. 8. Simply browse to the folder you created in step 5 and copy the backed up version of SMS.db and paste it to its original system location ("/var/root/Library/SMS/" or ~/Library/SMS as Finder would show you). - thereby replacing the corrupted version of SMS.db. 9. Come out of Finder and BOOM!! - Your SMS app is back again. (However you start seeing all your backed up SMSes instantly when you start SMS app - BUT you MAY (unconfirmed) need to re-start the phone for the SMSes to be sent out - else it MAY give you "Message sending failed" error). Tips and Notes: 1. OBVIOUSLY - Only SMSes that were recieved / sent uptil the time of back-up would be recovered. You can create backups according to your own frequency thereby reverting back to a more recent version of SMSes. 2. In case you have certain messages in your corrupted SMS.db which you DO NOT WANT TO LOSE as they were not on the Backup version, you can also create another folder (with ANY name; like "Corrupted SMS"), where you can copy the corrupted SMS.db before replacing it with a back-up. You can SQLite into this file later (when you have access to a PC) to remove the culprit SMS and restore that version to get ALL your SMSes back. 3. You may want to keep the Finder App in the "Hidden" section of rSBT - so it does not show on the springboard. This can avoid accidental usage / deletion / modification of system files by someone who is just browsing through your phone.
