Will the unit agitate? If it does it could be the solenoid which disengages the agitate cycle on the transmission or the lid micro switch. Lift the top of the unit off using force pulling forward and up at the same time. The top should be hinged at the back allowing you to test the switch with and ohm meter or by shorting out the switch by touching the two leads together then trying the spin cycle. Be careful to keep your hands and body clear of the moving tub and other parts. If it works replace the switch or if it did not remove the short on the two switch leads. If the switch tested good you can look at the bottom of the unit where the transmission and motor are located. Look for a coil with wires and a connector that is attached to a shaft going to the transmission located under the tub. Use a volt meter to check if the coil has voltage during the spin cycle while being careful of moving parts. If you do not have a meter turn of the washer use a wood nonconductive stick to manually engage the solenoid then remove the stick and turn the unit on to spin close the lid and see if it spins. If yes replace the solenoid.

You have a bad coupling. It is between the transmission and the motor.

You can hear water behind the drum when you spin

I don't believe you have a problem with your washer. It is NORMAL to have residual water in the drain lines and drain pump following a wash cycle. You will be able to hear the water sloshing around if you move the drum or drain lines. This is the lowest point of the drain cycle and gravity will ALWAYS cause some water to be there. As long as the water is not visible in the spin basket inside the drum, and the washer is properly draining during the wash and rinse cycles, you have nothing to worry about.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Amana nav5800aww water on floor after spin cycle

Sounds very similar to having something such as a sock or small article of clothing that is too large to be sucked down the drain hose into the pump. So what happens is it hangs around between the inner and outer drums and sometimes gets itself lodged over the drum drain hole, and can allow water to be centrifically flung over the top of the drum. Most times when the spin cycle stops, the article of clothing will dislodge and float around inside the drum only to do it again later....
If you can remove the top of the machine, you can usually see the gap between the two drums and use a piece of coathanger wire with a small hook on the end and "go fishing in the area between the two drums and close to the drain hole location... bet you'll find something in there... Let me know how it goes... and if I can help .. ken

High speed drum rinse ..drum not spinning during rinse cycle

Clean out coin collector thoroughly. Replace drain pump if necessary. Water will drain if you can place drain hose on floor and let water siphon out.

Washer kenmore series 80 after wash or rense cycle wont start to spin when dumping water. Sears repair man says that is normal and I say it used to spin. what is the problem?

There is no problem, unless the drum doesn't spin at all.
In a wash or rinse cycle there is a neutral drain just before the spin. During the neutral drain, the drum does not spin. If you open the lid or pause the timer during the neutral drain, the motor will stop (same as the short pause just before the actual spin) and the "kicker" in the transmission will disengage the brake. At this point the drum will start to spin. The neutral drain prevents wear and tear to the transmission since the drum will be very heavy while it's full of water and wet clothes.
If it doesn't spin at all, you may have a problem with the motor coupling, the brake/clutch assembly or the transmission.
Hope this helps to clarify things.

Bosch classixx 1000 washing machine - stops on spin

Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x

Sounds like the lid switch may have went bad. It has an independent drain pump so will still drain water. Give that a try and see. Godd Luck!!! Jim
