I have dell latitude E6400, I am unable to toggle between external display(projector/monitor) and laptop display. As in laptop manual, i have tried using function keys (fn+f8).

Things to check:

1. Is your display automatically transfer to the projetor right away when you plug the VGA/HDMI cable to the computer? If not, and Fn+F8 doesn't do anything, try to press the Windows Key+P (the windows key looks like this ray_tosh_1.jpg ). This will allow you to switch between displays. (see image below).

2. If you choose one of the display mode above and it still won't clone/extend the image on your computer to the projector, try to use a different cable. If still no go, try to re-install the display driver and see if that fixes it. If same issue, there might be a problem with your VGA/HDMI/Display port and needs to be serviced.

Good luck

The 17.1' display of my toshiba satellite P105 its broken, two white lines blocked de screen, and 1 half of de screen its blocked by blacki need the part number or de model of de display for replace my...

Just a quick note, before you go replace the entire screen, make sure it's not just a wiring problem. If so, it doesn't cost as much to replace the wires connecting the screen to the laptop. LCD's are much more expensive!
As for replacing the display, this website has information on the display, along with the ability to purchase it from their site.
Hope this works!

My laptop could not work with lcd projectors. what can i do?

Does the projector work with another source? are you using the VGA cable? Have you seleted the proper input on the projetor?

Some have "auto" input selections but some may need to be told which input to use.

Some projectors have lower resolutions then monitors. Sometimes they requiire a lower resolution to work. Before you connect the projector try moving the resolution of the desktop down as low as you can. Say 800X600 then try the projector and see if it will work.

Just use a VGA to VGA cable and in the Display properties set it as a second display with the native (most likely XGA) resolution.

Does the Toshiba appear to bootup and the hard disk LED is flashing?
Can you see a dim image when you view the LCD screen at a sharp angle?
Connect an external monitor to the external video port and power up the external monitor first and then the Toshiba, if you get a nornal image on the external monitor the the video card is OK and the fault is the LCD screen. The problem could be the CCFL lamp or the inverter.
Get back to me with the result of these test and I can advise what to do next..

Need to see display on both laptop and projector

On most laptops pressing the Fn key plus the F5 key (in your model laptop) several times will cause the video to switch to different options
In the various laptops I've used with data projectors it is the same.
If you plug in the data projector and power it up then the laptop then the Windows image will be on the data projector (provided the laptop's screen resolution matches the data projector).
To toggle between the data projector only, the LCD screen, then LCD screen plus data projector, and or back through this sequence, just press the Fn key and the F5 key to get the displays you want .

I have a Toshiba Satellite U300-13U. I cannot project from my laptop using my Optoma projector. I know how to use projectors and have necer had any problems with any other laptop. This isn't a FN/F5 issue,...

Check the video output by connecting an external monitor to the laptop. If you get a normal image on the monitor the the laptop video output is OK.
Use a different video cable between the laptop and the projector.
Maybe your laptop resolution is set too high for the projector.
This maybe a dumb question, is the projector video input set correctly?
