Question about Toshiba SD-3980 DVD Player

Disc Error I hadn't used my DVD player in a while, and when I attenpted to watch a DVD, it says Disc Error, and Please Check Disc. I thought maybe it needed to be cleaned, so I bought a DVD cleaner. It won't even read the DVD cleaner, and it says the same thing.

    I have toshiba dvd video playe sd-3990su. Problem: the disc tray is holding a disc,but message appears on tv screen:"no disc".

    Dès que je mets un DVD, l'appareil me dit que c'est un disque incorrect, de sorte que je ne peux plus lregarder aucun DVD

    J'ai acheté un nettoyeur de DVD mais comme c'est un DVD, l'inscription est la même, disque incorrect

To ensure the satisfaction of our customers and to maintain the integrity and quality of our products, Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. is issuing an important product update. This is not a safety issue. Toshiba is committed to customer service and to continuously improving the quality of its products.

It has come to our attention that certain DVD players bearing the model numbers SD-3980 and SD-K750 may at some point in their life stop playing discs due to a component part failure.
In such case, the error message "bad" will be shown on the unit's display. Affected units will have "SU2" at the end of the model name (e.g., SD-3980-SU2), which can be found on the back of the unit.

If you own either of these models and experience the issue described above, please contact Toshiba Customer Solutions at 1-800-631-3811 for information on how to obtain a replacement unit.

Simple issue, the lead laser cannot read any data, for better result please try to check with the DVD shop.

When trying to watch DVD the DVD player does not read the disc and shows the "smart navis" screen. the model is; Wharfedale 3210dvx does not see disk


Please verify the disc maybe not compatible with your DVD player, or maybe damage on it. please try another disc. besure that the disc has no rashes;.

DVD Player stops reading disc Error message :

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

Check disc error

When you get a please check disc error when playing a DVD in your DVD machine, this is a signal that the lens of the DVD machine is getting weaker. I would ask you to try and play a CD in that machine. If it plays that means the lens of your DVD machine is weak. You have to change or purchase a new DVD machine.

Player won't load any discs

I don't have a solution at this time. I have the same DVD player and mine stopped working this past weekend. It is doing the same thing as yours. I opened the case and loaded a disc and watched the mechanism. The disc won't spin. if you tap the disc it will start spinning and load and start playing. I thought I had fully fixed it. It will load most times but now the video and audio stutters as if the discs is spinning at varying rates.

get a dvd cleaner from best buy. mine did the same thing, it would not play any dvds so i resorted to vhs, and once i had watched all of those, i finally got a dvd cleaner and now it works fine
