Question about Toshiba 62HMX84 62" Rear Projection HDTV
I've had this problem before. I turn the TV on and the sound comes on but the picture doesn't come on. I have a red blinking light and a green blinking light that blinks much slower. About a year ago I was able to get someone to tell me I needed a new lamp and sure enough I did. The lamp had busted. I thought I had the same problem but when I slid the tray out and examined the lamp I noticed that it's still fine. Now I don't know what the problem is. I got an extended warranty for this TV by Warrantech when I purchased this but all I got was a runaround and ultimately ended up buying the lamp on Ebay and fixing it myself. Now I am clueless as far as what else is wrong with this TV can anyone help me out? My e-mail address is: firstname.lastname@example.org
I have the exact same problem with my Toshiba 62HMX84. For about 3 years we have just kept leaving on the TV until the lamp burns out (about 8 months) then comes the off/on cycle we keep turning off and on until one day it decides to stay on. Now I am on my 3rd lamp from leaving the TV on 24/7 because I am afraid to turn it off. So now I am looking into the ballast. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fix this part myself? If so how to get to it and determine if this is the real problem? Also when I remove the lamp and look at something that seems like a lens it looks cracked on the left side and the top (kinda like a backwards 7) Is this normal? Please help :)

A lamp does not have to look broken to be bad... If you can continuity test the lamp you'll know for sure - but my guess is that's probably the culprit. And stay off places like ebay for the critical repair parts for your Tv - - - you have no idea what the quality is... Try DLP Lamp Source for the lamp itself and rebuild the lamp housing. Much cheaper, higher quality and greater reliability...

I just got the 62hm15a at an auction and is makes this low pitch buzz or droning sound whenever i turn it on. I know I know I should NOT have got it at an auction but.... Anyway did yours make that noise too? I was told that it was still under warranty. Maybe yours was too.
