Re: screen trouble

Did you press the function key and f3 key similtaneously to make it switch to another monitor Its either the f3 or f4 look on your fff numbered keys to see a blue symbol resembles a monitor thats the key to press with the FN together when it starts up.

Black screen on laptop

When it is in that state, try hooking it up to an external display. Also look for a extremely faint image on the screen. If it's really faint you have a bad back light, if you see nothing but you get a display on an external monitor it's probably the display going bad.

I have a Gateway M 1625 laptop. When I power it on the blue light is on for power and I can hear the fan turn on, but nothing shows up in the screen. Replaced the hard drive and still nothing. I hooked...

This indicates a motherboard issue, remove main battery and test, if no change! remove the ram memory one at a time and test each, if no result! it is time to get a professional in to assess.

Blank screen

Did it boot all the way? Do you hear the fan running, disk drive spinning? If it sounds like it booted but the display is black, try this:
When you press the power button do you hear fansrunning, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lightsconstantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer ofthe DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying toboot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

My nec p9120 has power to it and the wi-fi is on but the fan and everything else is not running and my lcd screen stays black

Try connecting to an external monitor and see if that works. Is the hard drive activity light flashing at all?

My acer aspire one aoa 150 shows a power light on and i can hear the fan but there is nothing but a black screen.

Your hard drive may have died. and if this is not the case and you can hear the drive spinning, then your monitor power cord from screen to motherboard has failed.

Help me!!! Black screen ONLY!

IF you hooked another monitor to your laptop did you transfer the screen to the other monitor if so and you got nothing i would say that you had a video card problem. it may be time to get a new laptop it will cost you about 1/2 the cost of a new one to fix it.

Black screen

It sounds as though the screen went out if you have access to a monitor and you have a vga plug on your computer try to hook it up to the other monitor and see if you are able to see anything. Sometimes when you hook up to an external monitor you will need to push the associated funtion keys. like i said if images show up then it is the screen on the laptop. If nothing shows up then it is the video hardware. If this is the case you will probably need to buy a new notebook since these are not normally changeable.

My Screen might be out??

dear ...,

when switching on te laptop, does it make noises, does the fan run, the CD/DVD-drive
LED shows green light and the harddisk rattle little bit? - good for you if it does, as the system still boots up !

to check if the LCD screen is broke and not the graphics card malfunctioning:

hook it up to an external monitor (one usually used with desktop PCs)
when laptop is switched off, using the 3-pin input in the back or to the right side of your laptop, and make sure the external monitor's power cord is properly fused...

Now switch on the external monitor first and then your machine again, and wait for the laptop boot messages on the monitor!
see anything? if yes the laptop screen is broke and needs to be replaced.
If still the external monitor stays black the onboard graphics card is up in smoke and you're in big trouble then.

Good luck finding out!
