Did you install the manufacturers software? if you don't have a disk you can usually download drivers from their website.

The paper does not feed unless I push on the paper in the loading tray. It is recognises the paper but does not feed it into the printer for printing .

the paper pick up roller is dirty clean properly with alcohol or aetone and don't use a 60gr paper use 80gr or 90gr.

The printer doesn't recognise paper even if paper is inserted in the right position. Out of paper message is shown.

The printer is indicating that it is ready. I sounds like it is not communicating with the computer. Perhaps uninstall the driver, and reinstall.

Paper sensor faulty - printer doesn't recognise when paper is loaded

Cannot print from the glass top. The top load area keeps running and then the message says to reload the original. Push OK and go in circles. Maybe the paper sensor is missing?

My x4650 is not recognising when I refill the black 36XLA cartridge. Just keeps telling me it is empty. There is not a problem with the cartridge itself just the failure to recognise it has been refilled....

turn on/off, unplug, plug in2_bing.gif, should reset configs.

take all the paper out, put half as much back in.
check the rollers to make sure no paper or particles are stuck.

go to applications folder for your computer, dbl click printer icon for make of printer. check settings. print 'test document and clean cartridge heads', this should ensure proper printing formats. or take cartridge out and put back in to insure in securely.

lastly, go to web site of printer model and check site for trouble shooting if this does not work above.
hope this helps and good luck

My printer (brother hl-5250dn) does not recognise that there is any paper in the tray. i have tried different amounts of paper and re-starting the printer and computer but it still will not accept that any...

One of the two paper trays would not feed in either the upper or lower position. In comparing the working and non-working tray, I found that I could manually rotate the white plastic gears on the left side of the working tray, but not on the inoperable one. When I took the paper out of the non-working tray, the gears rotated easily. I found that the paper length adjustment tab on the rear of the tray was a wee bit misaligned from the correct index (visible on the floor of the tray when paper is removed. I readjusted the paper length tab, and voila! It worked.

Paper feed on X4550

sounds like a jam or paper stuck up the device(all power off of course) and inspect it for something in there.

also, rollers could be dirty

Black back media

Hi Daniel,

This occurs because of the light sensor perper out sensor. A quick fix is locate the sensor on the left hand side of the paper path and then temporarily tape a piece of white paper over it. You just need to make sure that you keep an eye on the printer as it will not report paper out, now.
