The engine doesn't start an run ? A crank no start or no-crank no start ? How do you know there is plenty of fuel pressure ? Did you hook - up a fuel pressure gauge ? Replaced a fuel injector in my 2011 335d now the car will not start?

Start with basics. Spark and fuel. 1) To test spark pull a plug wire and insulate yourself from the high voltage with a thick rag. Hold it 1/4" from ground and have a helper crank the engine as you look for a strong, snapping spark. If no spark you will need to start your search there. Many things control this and a good tech would try testing many of the ignition components with the help of wiring diagrams and the specifications of those components. Common problems are Crank and Cam sensors as well as many other sensors. 2) To test fuel you want to listen for the electric fuel pump as you turn on the ignition to the ON position (not the start /crank) position. Get into the car and roll down the windows and close the doors to stop the chime /buzzer with no radio or other noise. Turn the key to the ON position and listen for an electric hum or vibration as the fuel pump cycles for only a few seconds until it reaches operating pressure. If not look for fuses or fuel pump relay.Try tapping on the fuel pump relay with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and try starting again. If it starts that relay is failing and needs to be replaced. The pump itself may be bad as well as the regulator or wiring or connections. Good Luck.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Note the radio security code and the radio presets.
  3. that means record them now. pen to paper.
  4. Remove the cylinder head cover retaining bolts. Remove the cylinder head cover from the engine.
  5. Set the number one piston at TDC. The punch mark on the variable timing control (VTC) actuator and the punch mark on the exhaust camshaft sprocket should be at the top. Align the TDC marks on the VTC actuator and exhaust camshaft sprocket.
  6. Using the proper gauge feeler gauge, adjust the valves on cylinder number one.
  7. Rotate the crankshaft 180 degrees. Using the proper gauge feeler gauge, adjust the valves on cylinder number three.
  8. Rotate the crankshaft 180 degrees. Using the proper gauge feeler gauge, adjust the valves on cylinder number four.
  9. Rotate the crankshaft 180 degrees. Using the proper gauge feeler gauge, adjust the valves on cylinder number two.
  10. Install the cylinder head cover.
  11. As required, on 2001-05 vehicles, reprogram the ECM engine idle characteristics. Be sure all electrical items are OFF.
  12. Start the engine. Hold the idle speed at 3000 RPM's in neutral until the radiator fan comes on or the temperature reached 194 degrees.
  13. Let the engine idle for about five minutes with the throttle fully closed.
  14. If the radiator fan comes on during the five minutes, do not count this toward the five minute programming time.
  15. Set the clock.
  16. As required, reprogram the power window control unit as follows.
  17. Turn the ignition switch ON. Lower the window, all the way down. Open the driver's side door.
  18. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Push and hold the drivers window DOWN switch. Turn the ignition switch ON. Release the driver's window DOWN switch. This must be done within five seconds.
  19. Repeat the above step three more times. Wait one second.
  20. Confirm that the AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do not work. If they work repeat the procedure, paying close attention to the five second time limit
  21. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the drivers window DOWN switch to the AUTO DOWN position.
  22. Pull up and hold the driver's window UP switch to the AUTO UP position until the window reaches the fully closed position. Hold the switch for one second.
  23. Confirm that the power window master switch has been reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
  24. If the AUTO UP and DOWN feature is still not working, repeat the complete procedure, paying close attention to the five second time limit.

Where is the ignition module located on 2000 chevy surburban 1500

Some GM makes and models there is an oil pressure switch that is a redundant power supply to the pump. The pump will work even if relay is unplugged, as long as switch has voltage and works properly.
That is not the case for your vehicle according to my wiring diagrams.
With coil on plug ignition, the coil itself could be called a module. The pcm also has control.

What is ASD RELAY

The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors, and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD); the idea is to shut off fuel pressure and the ignition systems when the key is turned off to prevent fires, dieseling, and other problems.

The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, or if the turbo boost pressure reaches and exceeds the over boost cut-off point, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module. This causes the engine to shut down.

Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start.

Security system went off after replacing battery now car wont start nor fuel pump will turn on.how do i fix

You might just need to reset it. Roll the drivers window down and close all the doors. Lock all the doors with the key ) turn the key to lock twice, The electric locks should lock all the doors. wail a few minutes and unlock and open the trunk with the key. relock the truck or just close it. unlock the drivers door with the key, twice. all the doors should unlock, get in and start the car. Now this does'nt always work. If it does'nt we'll make the system think it's running. Close and lock all the doors. open the hood and disconnect the battery, one ccable will be fine. wait a few minutes. Reach in though the open window and turn the key all the way on. Don't open the doors, go around and connect the battery hard so it does'nt jump or skip. Reach thought the window and start the car/ once it's running. turn it off remove the key and unlock the door from the inside and open the door ( as if you were inside.) get in and start the car and everything should be back to normal.

I have no power to the fuel pump on my 1996 TBird. Where is the fuse for the fuel pump located.

Do this test first. With the drivers door opened in a nice quite area turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine. You should hear the fuel pump operating for 5 seconds which is priming fuel to the engine. If not heard the engines oil pressure sensor is at fault. The third wire from this sensor links to the fuel pump to prime. When the engine reaches normal operation oil pressure range the computer shuts off that circuit and turns on the fuel pump relay for the pump to run. That relay stays on until you shut the engine off

Fuel pump does not come on when the car is switched on?

upon turning the ignition key on the oil pressure switch is conjoined to the fuel pump circuit. That will run the fuel pump until the oil pressure is reached to normal oil pressure range. When that happens the relay for the fuel pump takes over and the oil switch closes itself off.

1992 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3l dies on highway.

Its normal for the pump to run for three seconds then shut off if the car engine is off. . This indicates that the fuel pump turned on and the pressure did reach specifications. If the pump did not reach pressure the pump would continue to run, You need to check for proper pressure with a gauge. If tthe pressure is ok then you have another issue like an ignition module or crank sensor if applicable. You may have to drive the car with the fuel gauge hooked up to see if you still have pressure when it dies.. I know you said you replaced the pump already but do you have the same issues as before you replaced it. This would indicate which direction you need to go now. If the same then its prabably not the pump.
