My projector lamp ptl520u lamp is broken what can projector do after the lamp is broken.

Take the lamp cover back off. Check the mechanism that the projector uses to sense the door. It might be a small pressure switch. Check whatever triggers the mechanisms is still attached to the door and hasn't broken off.

Testing suspect/broken lamps

1. As before, with lamp replacement, allow approximately 45-60 minutes cooling time before accessing the projector.

2. If there is no output from the lamp, ensure that all internal, external and trip fuses are intact and filter covers are correctly fitted.

3. If another projector of the same make and model is available, change over the lamp assembly to confirm that the lamp is at fault.

4. If the projector is now working, a replacement lamp should be ordered from a recommended supplier.

5. If the projector still fails to work, check that the manufacturer's warranty has expired and, if so, contact TRS and report the fault as normal.

6. When replacing a lamp and it is found that the glass lamp housing has shattered, be aware that lamps can contain a small amount of mercury vapour. The room should be evacuated for a minimum of 30 minutes prior to any further remedial work being carried out.

7. On returning to the room, do not attempt to clean out the shards of broken glass. The projector should be carefully placed in a robust plastic bag and sealed.

Either lamp is dead/ broken in projector or lamp cover is not fixed properly (its located at bottom side)
Please check lamp and replace it if its broken and make sure lamp cover is fixed back on its location securely after lamp replacement/ checking.

No reset other then resetting the hours in the projector's menu. This is for reference only and will not keep the projector from coming on. If the lamp will not light make sure the lamp cover is all the way on and nothing has broken off of it.

Check the Video cable that feeds the projector, could be a broken cable or a pin bent -worst case the connector on the projector has broken.
Try the VGA cable on your computer screen.
The lamp does not need replaceing, the lamp emmits white light only.

reset the settings to factory default and swap out the cables. if that doesn't work, you have an issue with the optical engine. may need replacement.

the swith that the lamp cover engages is not functioning. either the tab on the lamp door is broken off, the actuator on the switch is off, or the switch itself is broken. the lamp won't light if it thinks the door is open.

I had this same problem with 2 NEC VT595 projectors. My problem was that there was a broken "tab" on the lamp cover (the plastic cover that slides in place over the lamp) that is supposed to depress a switch which insures the lamp cover is in place before operating the projector. The tab was broken in half and not making the connection there for causing the blinking status light (.5 sec on, 2.5 sec off) indicating a lamp housing or cover error.
