SOURCE: Rockford Fosgate Punch 360.2
If the wires were touching then the amp overworked itself into a early grave..What happends when they touch is the amp goes from seeing a 4 ohm load to seeing a 0 ohm load. You can imagine why this would be bad for a amp...usually the amp should shut off to protect from damage and I would assume that Rockford would. Right now im having a similar problem..I suggest your call rockford and ask to talk to a technical advisor ( the name escapes me) and ask him what he thinks.

There is no reset button. If you disconnect all of the speaker wires from the amplifier's speaker terminals and unplug the RCA cables, does the protect light still come on (I assume that you've already replaced the fuse)?

Disconnect the speaker wires from speaker terminals on the amp and turn the amp on (turn the head unit on). Set the volume to zero on the head unit.
Does the amp get hot?
If it does, either the bias is set to high or the amp has other problems. If it does not, you may have the speakers wired to the wrong ohm load.
SOURCE: not a problem just a question
Wire your sub in bridged mode (4 ohm mono)
+ to + on amplifier
- to - on amplifier
(using bridging terminals)
