Hello,

I have seen this type of problem on other brands of LCD monitors. The issue is either a bad solder joint on the high voltage backlight transformers or the transformer itself going out. The high pitched sound you are hearing is a high voltage spark. If you have a soldering iron and feel like opening your monitor then you may be able to repair it. Look for 2 identicle transformers these are the backlight ones. Resolder the connections on both units. While you have it open check for bad capacitors and replace any that may have been damaged by the transformers. You can see what the capacitors look like when they go bad at our web site: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

You need to set your PC video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor, which is: 1440x900 @60Hz.
Please leave rating if it helps.

Gateway 19 inch fpd1976w problem

Power supply will be the first place to look, look for bad caps (bulging tops or bottom seals). Check it out and post back what you find so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due tobad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
The high pitch you are hearing can be from the bad lamp soldering connection, it is arcing.

What is the biggest wide screen monitor can I get to use with the Dimension 2400 and the integrated video?

The monitor (19-inch, non-flat screen, 0.24 dot pitch) presented a more than acceptable image, even at its maximum supported resolution (1600X1200 @ 75Hz). We settled on a more reasonable 1280x1024 @ 85Hz as our preferred setting. According to the documentation, the recommended resolution is 1280x1024 @ 75Hz .Many of the newer LARGE monitors are limited to 60Hz and/or a larger dot pitch...So..look for a low dot pitch(below 0.27) and the ability to run at 1280X1024@75Hz . Passed that, the size is up to you.

Here is one small solution. goto start: -> control panel -> display click on the "appearance" tab. then click on "effects" check the box that says: Use the following method to smooth the edges of screen fonts (and make sure to choose "cleartype") You should notice the fonts are a little sharper as well as having a backdrop.

Kogi L9ch 19 in flat monitor

(I posted the latest post.) Change the resolution. (Mine was 1024 by 768, so I changed it first to 800 by 600 and then back to 1024 by 768, and it's back to normal!)

Hope that helps.
