The HP 32SII calculator has a very common problem with the keyboard connections. There might be nothing else wrong with the calculator except the contacts.

Try pinching the calculator just below the middle of the screen above the [LN] and [Y^x] keys while pushing the [C] button to power it on.

If this worked, at least you know where the problem is. Fixing that problem temporarily, some users wrap a rubber band around the calculator at that point and put something under it to keep pressure on that spot.

The longer-term fix is harder and involves taking the calculator apart to replace a foam pad to keep pressure on the plastic keyboard contact strip against the printed circuit board contacts.

Somebody (not me) put together an Instructables page for the HP 17B calculator, which is built exactly the same as the 32SII.

I had the non-contacting problem (not as bad as Anonymous) for six months. A month or so ago I tried putting the calculator on a hot-water radiator for a couple of hours. Since then it has worked perfectly.

Battery won't stay charged and has been repalced twice since October

hi, you replaced the batteries twice? using the same charger, have you tried another charger ?, okay let me tell you about mobility scooter chargers, it quite complex but some chargers will charge your new batteries correctly due to resistance etc, it more complex than this however now as your batteries get older your charger maybe having a problem charging your batteries , not because they faulty, now this is due to internal resistance once again the batteries problem reappears within 3 to 6 six months , it could be just the batteries are not good enough , I have seen a whole combination of faults , please bear in mind there are some dodgy batteries out on the market....

so

1. first try another charger

The ******** on my bouncer seat does not work

Could be a dirty/bad connection with the batteries. Try this: remove the batteries, scrub the terminals with a slightly damp cloth and dry it off. (scrub the little metal parts that the batteries come in contact with.)Then try the batteries again. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

The readout on my NR1000 does not work, I have repalced the battries.

Welcome to FixYa.

There are only two things that we can do to the readout/computer problem of the NR 1000.
1. Make sure that the batteries has power. 2. Turn it on then press and hold the reset button for 5 to 10 seconds.

If it does not resolve the problem, the device has a mechanical error and servicing it is the best way.

Thank you for using Fixya. Have a great day.

I REPALCED THE TIMER CONTROL AND MY DRYER WILL

Always check to make sure you have power at the unit. If power is present and you replaced the timer control there is something else causing your unit not to fire up. I will assume your unit is an electric dryer. Before you check anything inside the dryer make sure your power cord is unplugged. Then check the door switch for continuity. If the door switch test okay then check the thermal fuse located on the blower assembly. Remove one lead and test for continuity, if okay then check the upper limit on the heating box. Again, this is a continuity check and again remove one of the leads before you check for continuity.
