Hi

try loading in with the safe mode and check to see if you have any errors also there might be any issue with change in resolution or refresh rates try taking out the video card and placing it back in this should work..... else

there is a small task that you may have to follow (this will only repair windows and does not take away any settings but if u r not too sure then take some assistanc efrom someone who knows how to)

1. enable 1st boot device as CD, 2nd boot device as HDD0
2. place the Win XP CD and Power on
3. it goes to the windows setup and asks for repair or new install
4. here select new installation
5. then it will follow a few things then later after that it will check for any already installed versions
6. now select the drive in which ur XP is and select repair

this will reload the windows necessary files again and after all the process when it restarts take the CD away from the drive and let it boot

after complete installation windows will load with all the old settins and all

and u r back in business

cheers
pls rate if this was any help

Samsung r40 not loading xp

If the computer boots in to safe mode fine, you more than likely have a virus or spyware interfering with the boot process.

Windows also could have corruption on it.
Insert your windows XP CD and boot the computer, you may need to set your boot order in BIOS so tht CD is first.

Once the CD loads Run the recovery console Select 1 for the C: drive if it asks for a password this is generally blank or will be the password on the "Administrator" account you see when you boot to windows in safemode

Once in the recovery console do a chkdsk /f command
This is will check for errors on the disk and can fix a lot of boot issues
I would also suggest typing the command mbrfix to replace the master boot record.

If it still will not boot you may need to reinstall windows xp

The screen cable is most likely damaged. Try connecting an external monitor. If it works, you need to take the computer to a repair center to have the cable changed.

There should be a display toggle key on your keyboard. This will toggle the display from the external display to the laptop lcd. Try pressing the Fn + F5 key to toggle the display.

Blank/Black Screen Asus PC 4G

When you first turn on the computer, start tapping the F8 key to bring up the safe mode screen. You have a very short window in which to press the F8 key before XP loads, so it is possible to miss it. If this happens, just restart it and try it again. Once you are on the safe mode screen, select the enable VGA mode. This will boot your computer to a default 640 x 480 resolution so you can change it back to normal.

Thanks and please don't forget to give this solution a fixya rating.

Hi jime;
what operating system are you using? is it XP? what recent changes did you do to your pc? software or hardware installed?

open up your pc and re-seat your RAM. and see if you can boot up. Or upon booting, tap F8 and select Last Known Good Configuration.

here is the link below and try #10,

MONITOR GOES BLANK

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.
