I tried to buy on ebay and it said to contact paypal that there was an error??

Ebay is a funny thing.... if you do not know the exact answers to questions they ask, they see you as being an unauthorized user. If you have had complaints you have neglected to respond to or resolve; they will lock your account. If you have unpaid debt with paypal or ebay - they may lock you out... although ebay & paypal are splitting now. If you think it is a system error, you can try emailing [email protected]. PayPal's number is 1-888-221-1161, but it sounds like you need to contact Ebay instead if the auction is still open. Their number is (866) 540-3229

1) First, hopefully you completed the whole transaction with the seller USING the actual paypal application. If you decided to buy it by just emailing the seller without paypal that is why the transaction is not there and the seller deleted his account.
Ebay does caution against doing it without using paypal.

2) If you did buy and pay for item throught paypal, it sounds like the seller deleted his account and does not want to refund your money or ship your item.

If #2 is the situation, Go to the actual transaction or Activity on your paypall account and get ALL the information you can on the sale. Item #, description, Seller information, etc.

Log into your paypal account and choose My Account
scroll to the bottom and click "contact us"
a page will open and you can either call PayPal or look in "Find Answers by Topic" and report FRAUD or Report a Problem.

try that and Ebay will be able to search their records and find this seller if it is fraudulent.

Speedbump is an internal eBay PayPal error and you will need to contact them so that they can report this to their technical support. you can also ask the seller to send you a manual PayPal invoice but you will need to give the seller your paypal email address (and it's okay) just don't give your password.

First, you should contact the seller and tell them you have not received the product. If they do not respond or do not help, then you can contact PAYPAL and "Report a Dispute".

It would be better if you will try to contact PayPal because it is possible that the card is still under your PayPal account that is link on your eBay account.

In the finished auction page (use the item number to find the page) there is a link to contact the seller. (Send Message or "Contact Member"). You can also find how to get member info from the "Connect" heading "SiteMap" (Sitemap Link is at the bottom of eBay pages).
Save your paypal and Ebay emails for convenient contact info.
You may file "Item not Received" reports from links in the "My Ebay" page, under "BUY/PURCHASED" then click on the item you have the problem with and then click the "Report a Problem". links. Also should be a path through the Security Center link at the bottom of Ebay pages.
