My car was off, key out of ignition. I heard my KDC-MP205 radio make a popping noise and the speakers then had static coming out of them. The unit turns on but there is no sound now. I have checked connections, fuses etc. Any suggestions.

Unless you turned it off, Kenwood radios automatically have the loud turned on when the radio is first powered up.

I am installing a kenwood cd receiver kdc-mp205 every thing is hooked up but the screen says protect wat is the problem?

Hello.. sorry to hear you are having problems. With the Kenwood car stereos, when they detect a bad speaker in the car, they go into protect mode to keep from burning up the outputs of the stereo. Either you have a bad speaker in the car or a speaker wire that is touching metal (grounded out). You can cut all of the speaker wires loose at the radio and reset the radio. Then turn the radio on and hook each speaker up one at a time until it goes into protect and that will let you know where your problem is located. Hope this helps and good luck with your venture!

Radio display says protect. does not emit sound.

Sounds like you have either a short in your speaker wire somewhere, wires touching in the back of the unit or a short inside the stereo itself... Try pulling the radio out and unhooking all of your speakers...Turn unit back on after all speakers are disconected...If unit still shows protect, then radio is bad...If it doesnt, power off and hook up speakers one by one and power it back on till it shows protect again....When it does, the last speaker wire you hooked up has either a crossed wire or the speaker is bad...

Quit working, but still says "Protect" What's up?

when it says protected one of the speaker or speaker wire is grounding out (touching the metal) one way to find out wich speaker is to working bad is to disconnect the speaker behind the radio one by one and whene you disconecct the bad one the rest will work next replace the bad speaker and it should work fine

Why does my radio say protect

Protect indicates that there is a short or a grounding problem usually within the speakers or the speaker wiring. Locate and press the reset button (pinhole). If protect comes back then disconnect all speakers, reset and connect them back one at a time until protect shows up again. This will help you find out where the unwanted DC signal is coming from. If protect shows up when all speakers are disconnected, then it may need service.
