Question about Fujitsu 24R1 Air Conditioner

Fujitsu a/c ast24rsg-w blows fuse after 3 mins as comp starts up

My fujitsu air cond keeps tripping the breaker 3 minutes after i turn it ,as the compressor fires up, i can run it on fan mode ,no worries, but when i turn on the heat or cold it trips,does anyone out there know what causes this...thanks rod ...0408759993 rod.jenny@bigpond.com

    thank you , i have found the problem, it was the compressor went to earth...

    First thing to do is confirm proper voltage getting to unit.

It sound like you have a direct short in the compressor ,Usually it means you have a bad compressor,but sometimes it could be a loose wire or bad outdoor motor. Ive installed about 10 of these units and still have yet to have a bad compressor.It could also be a bad circuit board in the outdoor unit.I wish I could narrow it down better but thats my best guess!Thanks ---Nate

The ac window unit that I have keeps blowing the breaker about tw o to three minutes after I turn it on. It is a 110 unit and i have it pluged into its own receptical.

The compressor has gone bad and when it goes to start it pulls too much current and trips the breaker...the A/C will run for 2-3 min before trying to start the compressor...

The compressor will need to be replaced, but that will cost almost as much or as much as a new one in most cases...usually it is best to just buy a new one...

try cleani ng the unit outside with your garden hose first .sounds like its kinda dirty .the dirty er the coil is the higher the amp draw is when it is running .what size is the breaker in the box .thats a 3 an a half ton condensor

you may have a bad p c board / this board controls the start up and defrost cycles . also blowing of breaker could be a short . may be a bad comp . how old / is cond clean / is to on a ext cord / or a ground fault plug . hop this will help m m

this sounds like the compressor has shorted to ground, must be verified by ohm check

Thermostat went blank replaced batteries and thermostat background info came on but not the air cond unit. What could go wrong?

I have a ruud achiever uaka outdoor central air system, the first time i ran it this summer it tripped the breaker. It stayed on for a good hour as it cooled the house to the desired temp. then it turned...


start components are likely bad causing comp to pull high amps tripping breaker careful resetting the breaker they can explode stand off to the side
you need service all so have preventive maintenance done on the unit

you check the fan motor and the compressor winding and terminal you have a short

41 amps is most likely a locked rotor in the compresser check on the tag of the compresser lok for LRA = Locked rotor amps) see what that reading says that is the first place to look also is it tripping the breaker or fused disconnect?
