Gateway notebook MX6930 trackpad issue

The main (left) button under the trackpad isn't responding, althought the right button does (it brings up the shortcut menu as always, but then you need to highlight what you want and use the "enter" key on the keyboard to make your choice). However, I am using a logitech wireless (USB) mouse, and it works fine.

Is this a registry issue? I'm trying to resolve without having to do a universal reinstall of windows.

Please advise.

I got the contextual menu each time i touch the knob on the keyboard that control the volume of the speakers (or sometime other keys) and i have to take this menu off by clicking exit in this menu with the mouse. It is getting me on my nerves. Do you have a solution?

I tried to reinstall the keyboard software, i tried to reinstall windows XP and all the other sofwares and i still have the problem.

I am having the same problem with my left click. I have a Gateway Notebook. It was working just fine and then a second later it stopped. I tried doing the system restore and it still didn't work after. I went into my mouse options and switched it to left handed and am able to "left click" with the right button but now I can't "right click" with the left button. I am asuming it is something with the button itself.

Same thing. The left button doesn't work, so I set the right button to primary click. It seems to be a problem with the hardware, not the software.

How do i right mouse click on lenova e431?

The TrackPad on the e431 is different from the traditional trackpads we are used to from Lenovo. Lenovo has eliminated the two click buttons, but have instead integrated them into the trackpad itself. There are two red lines along the top left and right of the trackpad, and pressing the one on the left is equivalent to pressing the left mouse button, and pressing on the red line on the right side is the right-mouse button.

Tapping on gateway nv 53 trackpad not working

This just happened on my HP2730P. I always used the click on the touchpad, plus used the right click button at the bottom. Yesterday it just decided to stop working and went started doing the selecting and dragging while I was moving the mouse around and my left click stopped working. Obviously my enable tap click was already on cuz I used it all the time.

My solution was disabling the buttons under the "buttons" tab. Then my mousepad tap started working again, I regained function in the scrollbar on the mousepad again, and if I need to right click I can use the point stick buttons right above the pad.

Does it start working when you reboot? If so, try changing the "Touchpad Sensitivity" option :)

Presario C714NR gr983UA#ABA ALPS touchpad does not work I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but it still does not work

I had a similar issue with my ASUS. Try finding a program on your computer other than the Control Panel that controls the trackpad. For instance mine is Elan Smart-Pad. Usually working with some of the configurations in the program reinitialize the trackpad. If that doesn't work make sure that it isn't turned of due to keyboard interference (hitting a button that turns the trackpad off). Hopefully that isn't the case though.

Hp Pavillion dv2000 touchpad locks to horizontal axis randomly

If it's happening on an intermittent basis, then it may be time to bring the unit into an authorized service center. In my experience, it sounds like the trackpad cabling may be starting to wear out (might be the trackpad itself, but less common with the symptoms you're describing). If you're familiar with laptop disassembly, you could try re-seating the trackpad cables yourself, however, if you are still currently covered under any warranties (either through HP or through your place of purchase) then I recommend bringing it to their attention so that the unit can be serviced without you spending any money. If you're not under warranty though, trackpad replacements aren't going to put a huge dent in your wallet, I've seen replacements usualyl go around the $100-150 USD mark, for parts and labour. Prices of course will vary depending on suppliers availability of parts and shop rates. Hope this narrows things down a bit for you and gives you a good leg up on getting your lappy back up and running again! Although, if worse comes to worse, and you don't mind having one, you could always get away with using a USB mouse instead if the trackpad wears away entirey and you don't want to front the money for the full fix. My favorite mouse to use on these kinds of notebooks, is the Logitech VX Nano. Very comfortable, portable and easy to use.
