Hi,
the fdisk option can only be run from DOS so you need to boot off a floppy disk or a bootable CD containing diagnostic software. Perform the fdisk the check partitions and then a scandisk to check for cluster/sector corruption

If it is the hdd password, contact IBM. Prove ownership and they may be able to help. If windows password, there is software available but rather expensive!

Have tried all possible "F" button start up options. Will not recognize vista dvd. When loading safe mode, stops loading drivers and freezes. Cant get to anything but Bios. All other options are ask

Some BIOS use other keys like the ESC key. It should be noted on the screen during boot. Plus some have an adhoc boot one time boot menu.

You could also make sure the CD is bootable on another pc.

My screen says no bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key

This sometimes shows up if the floppy drive is set as the first boot device in Bios, and the disk in the floppy drive is not bootable.

Have you attempted to boot to Safe Mode? To enter the Safe Mode menu, continually tap the F8 key just after powering on the computer.

If you're abe to boot to Safe Mode, try choosing the option "Last known good configuration" as the boot option.

If this doesn't work, try Safe Mode (with or without Networking)

We need to know if you can even boot before continuing. If you can't boot then you may need to do a Windows repair. Do you have the OS Disc?

The problem is my emachine laptop does not want to start up it is asking me a boot decives wch l dont have, the model for my emachines is E525, where can l get the boot device?

It is asking you for a bootable drive or device.
Your windows OS is your main bootable device, if it is not booting, you must have a error in your windows installation.
Other bootable devices can be your Windows CD, or a USB drive with some bootable media on it.
Try tapping F8 when you turn your PC on, it will give you the option to boot into safe mode, or may also give you repair / restore options.
Try booting into safe mode and do a system restore

I have a T3626 E-Machine when I try to turn it on it starts to boot-up then shuts off. I've tried it a dozen times with the same results. HELP!! I have tried to start in safe mode..no help. Went to F10 at...

Try this. Go into your setup screen ( F10 or DEL ). From here set up the system to boot from another device ( hopefully you have the original Windows disk or a bootable 3.5" Disk)
I would like you to change boot sequence and boot from one of these other devices ( hoping that you don't have an infection which jumps to your clean boot - to prevent this on bootable floppy, open the little door}..

i think u have not use bootable cd to reformat..
if u use bootable cd such problem will not occur.
once u format means u r system becomes new.. but i donnot know why such problem occurs..

it also depends on type of sevice pack u use
use service pack2 , it is stable.

if the problem is in harddisk .. consult u r customer sevice.
