Question about GE Televison & Video
I have GE model 27GT618 made 1996. No power to TV. Have switch outlets, jiggled cord, nothing. Tried power from the TV as well as remote but nothing happens.
If there is no power at all , then it is either the PSU (transformer) or the power cord.
What a technician does is the following:
Unplug power cord.
Visually inspect Power Board, looking for blown or leaking capacitors or burnt areas.
Inspect power cord contacts looking for broken solder joints.
Plug back TV and read volts at power cord contacts , or read continuity (Ohms) on power cord to test power cord integrity.
Test volts out on PSU board.
Replace PSU board or power cord.
Parts for this set are not longer in stock, and can be ordered from Sellers like Vance Baldwin or Partstore, or requested directly from manufacturer.
If the problem is a PSU capacitor, the capacitor alone can be replaced by a local technician, saving money on the power board replacement.
