Inspect the manifold. There is probably a crack.

What would cause earth to blow into pool after pumping down pressure

DE filters are a picky item. if you have too much media, it will blow off. make sure to follow the instructions when doing a bump or replacement of media.

I have an Hayward Pro Series S244T filter and I have had problems with sand blowing back into pool - the filter is only 2 years old

When sand returns to the pool, there is a hole in either the media or the sieve that is supposed to keep the sand in the filter.
All of the sand must come out of the filter, the sieve at the bottom (outlet of the filter) must be removed and any broken segments must be replaced.
The sand is then returned.

De blowby entering pool replaced both gaskets in variflow as well as checked filter grids

If you have DE blowing back into the pool with this pool filter, there is really only a couple things that it could be. Either there is a hole in the grid fabrics or the o ring needs to be replaced. If you have checked the grids and don't see anything, it could be a hole that is not visible. You are probably going to have to replace the grid material.

Filter shoots diatomaceous earth and dirt, back into pool whenever pool is vac'd????

One of two things, maybe both. Either the spider gasket is bad, or you have some rips and holes in one or more of the grids. Sounds more like grids than gasket.

Why is the DE getting into my pool?

The diatomatious earth is probably getting through a small hole in the membrane. Although some small amount may get through each time you re-charge, or when you backwash.

We have an an Infinity DE filter. It's blowing DE back into the pool. We've replaced the filters.

Most likely the "fingers" inside the filter housing are worn out and causing the DE to blow out the return line to the pool.

D.e. earth pool filter returning dirt to pool

The flow tubes inside the filter canister are torn and letting dirt pass. The repair is simple and can be done by someone with a few hand tools. Download the manual for the filter here:www.haywardnet.com/products/Manuals/pdfs/manual9.pdf

You'll only need to replace the ones that are ripped, and the cost runs about $3 - $5 each. Search around on Google for a supplier or try a local pool dealer.

There's sand in my pool!

I have had this issue with several clients and before worrying, you might have had sand being drawn back into pool lines during winterization. this happens when you blow out lines, plug holes, but keeping it pressurized. if it keeps happening check draw fins on bottom of filter.
