RAID 1 connfiguration on IBM X 3650 M2 server

IBM X 3650 M2 server with two 146 GB harddisk

I have manually configured RAID 1 configuration on this server. I check the number of devices in /dev directory after Linux installation. It is showing output as
sda, sdb, sdc

In actual it should show me only one disk 'sda'. due to this my installation script is failing.

I am installing Linux 5.2 kickstart.

I am seeking help on this

SOURCE: Raid configuration

When your system boots up you should see an option to access your raid controller if not or if your system doesn't see the controller at all you will have to download the utility software from IBM, but you need to be careful any change you make in the configuration of the disks will delete all data on your drives. This is non-recoverable loss. The utility has help and is fairly easy to understand.

SOURCE: Raid Failure

Hi, There is no chance of raid failure unless more that 1 HDD (2 or more) on Raid 5 member fail . You can replace Raid Controller if the part is faulty . Yet there is no chance of loosing data . So check if it is a Hdd fault or Raid Controller fault .

Reconfugure raid 1

Not sure what the questions is, reconfiguring a mirrored raid is a destructive process so all info on the drives will be gone.
That said this is managed through the SCSI configuration which you can get into at boot usually by pressing one of the function keys when prompted at boot up.

The RAID configuration depends upon how many hard drives you have (same size and make) and which RAID level configuration your want ie. RAID 0, ot RAID 5 or a combination of RAID 0 and 1 etc.

For further RAID information, check out these WEB sites.

CAn I disable RAID on a DEll powervault 770n server

Its called the JBOD RAID option - just a bunch of discs.

I don't know of any system that makes a RAID array an operational imperative, I would say the answer to your question is yes.

RTFM.

Regarding Adding Higher Configuaration HDD Into Exisisting Raid 5

In raid 5 yes you can, yet you won't use the ful hard drive, the system will take only 73GB because that's the smallest HD in your array.

Just, of course, follow the indications for your specific RAID hardware/software about how to add a new HD to it:
