My Samsung tv is dim; has sound and we can see the tv its just very dim. Its not a setting; we already chevjed that.

yes the UN39FH5000F is an LED version of Samsung. I'am not aware of any user maintenance procedures for increasing the brightness. These TV's with the LED should run for years and maintain their brightness. Suggest consulting a repair center to determine if the repair cost would be reasonable.

If the TV unit that you have is a DLP than a bulb in the rear is the likely culprit and is burning out. The bulbs lasts for thousands of hours but over that period the light output reduces.

The procedure for replacing is relatively simple. Use good safety procedures including disconnecting the power cord. My suggestion is you purchase a very good quality replacement bulb installed into the module. You want the brightest bulb to get the best results,

Samsung Smart TV has a very dim picture. Is a LED driver board the proper fix?

Depends on the model. Have you checked the backlight, (LED in this set perhaps).

Samsung TV backlight is very dim on LN40B530P7N Television

Check if the sensor of the ambient light in the room is dirty (bottom of TV). If so, the TV thinks its playing in a dark room and so sets the screen to dim.

If that doesn't improve things, turn a flashlight on the sensor to fool it into thinking its a brighter room.

I have a Samsung 55in curved TV. It has auto dimming. In the evening with the lights out it dims to where it is difficult to see the picture. Can I get rid of the auto dimming?

If the brightness on your TV changes automatically (randomly dims and brightens), you may need to adjust the:
  • Eco Sensor function.
  • - And / Or -
    • Energy Saving function.
The Eco Sensor and Energy Saving functions adjust the brightness of the TV to reduce power consumption.
    • When you set the Energy Saving function to Auto, the TV changes its brightness automatically depending on what you are watching on the TV.
    • When you set the Eco Sensor to On, the TV changes its brightness automatically depending on the brightness of the room.
