After formatting my dell vostro 1510 DVD drive will not read or play DVD discs

If you reinstalled Windows from the Dell-provided "System Restore" CD/DVD disks, you should be able to play DVD disks.

If you reinstalled Windows from some "other" Windows disks, you should be able to view the files/folders on any DVD-disk, but you will be lacking the software to properly "decode" those files, and to "play" the content.

I'm attempting to burn a video i created on windows movie maker to a DVD+R 4.7 GB/Go, 1-16x disc. I've attempted burning it straight from the option in windows movie maker, and now I just attempted to use...

If the DVD is unreadable by several devices then the DVD disk was burned wrong and is nothing more than you can do.
Assure that you have a region set on your DVD players and a certified DVD playback software on PC. Windows Media Player 10 should be enough if the disk is still unreadable will remain unreadable and ony speciall software with raw access will read it but this is not a solution for you.
I use Nero 7 for burning CDs and DVDs and never had a problem. Maybe when you burned the DVD you set a wrong regional code or you choosed a wrong DVD format that is unknown to your DVD players.

How do I play dvd's on windows 11 media player with xp

Windows and Media Player do not come with dvd playback functions by default. You will either have to purchase dvd software or you can also download Video Lan Client "VLC" to support playback. VLC is a free download.

I am having a problem with my DVD rom. I put a disc in there (DVD or CD) and it shows what the disc is and even names all the songs on it, but then a message comes up saying- ? Windows Media Player cannot...

It just might be a problem with the laser carriage motor that moves the laser assy back and forth to read from the inner portion of the disc to the outer portion. If it can't move from the reference position, it won't read anything more than the initial data on any disc. Hope this helps. Good luck!

New hp dvd writer... no sound from dvd's

First double click on speaker image in right corner of your screen to see if you have MUTE disabled for all the devices and you have audio drivers to have speaker activated. Second, if you recently istalled new dvd driver it can be hardware problem. There are audio plugs (analog and digital) on back of DVD-Burner. Check if they are connected properly. Third your DVD-playback software might not supporting audio, so you might be missing audio codecs to playback DVD-audio. It depends which program you using. Maybe you need to download another program to playback DVD, for instance Windows Media Player 11.
Good Luck

Sony DVD-RW DW-D56A drive playing up

I am not posting a solution, but may be the same problem.
I have dell inspiron 510m with DVD - RW sony A 56
It had burnt one DVD till now, but it can NOT burn any more DVDs.
I have tried burning using windows XP-SP2, Nero 6, Nero 8, burn my files 3.01 BUT no use. The only thing I got is different error messages.
I changed many types of DVD-Rom, from sony, benq..trying to rule out the storge media itself as source of error, but again no use.
Astonishingly, it works a CD-ROM Burner very well.
Any suggestions?

Movie audio 'flutters/warbles'

Might be that cyberlink is the problem or the codec it uses. I would also recommend using VLC, and see if it has issues.

I like VLC, it will pretty much play any media file, and I do mean any media file. If window media player can not play a file, VLC should. And the best part, its free.

If its your codec, I prefer SLD Codec.

My dvd re writer wont work

Well, when you insert a disc and go to My Computer then to the DVD drive itself, does it show that a disc is in the drive, if it does does and you open the drive does it show the contents of the drive! If so then you are having a software issue regarding the decoder! You can check out the following link: Microsoft explains DVD Playback in XP: Also you can try this free codec site: If when you go to My computer an the disc does not come up in the drive or the drive doesn't show or anything like that you may be having problems witht the drive / configuration itself let me know how this works out regards, babb
