Follow the bellow steps in order to replace the belt:

  1. Safety first! Unplug the machine from the wall-socket and make sure the machine has been idle long enough so that the heater elements, etc. have cooled.

    Rest of the steps:

    1. Before removing the back panel any more, carefully undo the electrical connector for the heating element.

    2. Broken beltRemove the broken belt if not already done.

    3. Positioning the beltMove the back panel away from the drum and put the new belt over the top of the drum (towards the rear) and feed it through between the drum and the back panel and finally around the motor-shaft.

    4. Motor/Spring assemblyThe motor can pivot and has a spring securing it to the body of the machine.
    5. The trick to fitting the belt is to hold the belt with your left hand as shown and with your other hand, push the pulley-wheel anti-clockwise until you can get the belt to loop over it.

    6. The belt is looped around the pulley-wheelOnce this is in place, the hard work is over. Rotate the drum slowly by hand to make sure the belt is able to travel unhindered. Now is your chance to hoover out the back of the machine! Reconect the heating element connector.
    7. Re-fit the back cover, taking care to line up the drum with the hole.
    8. Screw on the back panel. Replace the washers/e-ring securing the drum.

      • Make sure you put back on everything you removed (such as the belt for the fan).

    9. Re-fit the top cover.
    10. You're good to go!

How old is the belt? Probably stretched so far that the spring couldn't supply enough tension to keep it on the pulleys. Need a new belt.

I am trying to change the belt on my electra tumble dryer but cant get it onto the spindle as there is a spring loaded pulley wheel also?!!!1

put the belt onto the tension pulley first then use the large diameter drum to assist you in in LEVERING the belt on with tensioner spring in place . Failing that remove and replace spring with vice grips (put spring back on as it came off ).

Simpson Maxidry Tumble dryer (Cloths dryer) How

Hi there, There is a switch at the bottom of the dryer. It has a groove for the spring to fit around. Then the spring goes through the metal tag with the holes in the pulley. The pulleys 2 prongs then fits into the slot near the motor. The belt goes through the pulley and around the motor wheel. When fitting the drum, tape the belt at three points on the drum with the machine door facing down making installation easier. Once installed remove the tape. The dryer now works like a dream. See the attached photo. Good Luck!8e72e75.jpg

Fitting tumble dryer drive belt

Looking from rear of dryer, one spring on motor is for tension, therefore put belt around drum(groove to the drum surface). Then rotate the motor firmly clockwise tensioning the spring, take belt from right of drum over tension wheel then put grooves of belt on shaft of motor.Release motor to tension spring, job done !!!!!

Dryer not tumbling

Broken drive belt, or drive belt disengaged. Or stretched. Or lost tension spring. Humming is motor running, not driving drum.
