Aspire ZG5 Won't Complete Boot Process

This machine attempts to boot, however, it gets to the "Window XP" screen and immediately returns an error stating "Insufficient Resources to continue (Refers to LSASS.EXE) error in particular.
I've tried the Alt + F10 solution mentioned on a few sites but that doesn't give me any response at all.
I've also tried F8'ing to try booting in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. without success. If I attempt to load in Safe Mode in any way, shape or form it returns a STOP: "C000021a - Fatal System Error" - Blue Screen of Death.

The machine is an Aspire One Series, Model ZG5

Hello Dzaitz,

A description of the error message: http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x21a
Basically, Windows' security has been compromised - so it won't work until you fix the security issue.

The "0xc0000005" part means that the error occurred in your memory. Most likely this was either caused by the power outage or malware. If the power outage caused it, there may be other damage that isn't obvious at this point.

Since you can't boot into Windows, your choices are a bit limited.
First, I'd suggest that you run this free, bootable memory diagnostic: http://www.memtest86.com/
As a "just to be sure" measure, I'd also run a free, bootable hard drive diagnostic (available at the support website for the manufacturer of your hard drive).
If you pass those 2 tests, then I'd suggest a repair installation of Windows XP. If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed, read this first: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917964. Then the instructions for the repair install are located here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Post back with any more questions or comments for additional assistance. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Acer aspire one model zg5 is in a loop of erecovery management and gives error message cannot format the object drive

If you mean laptop is in boot loop ?

Check to see if there are any keys stuck/depressed.

If so, use a paperclip and fit it underneath the key and gently pry the end that is stuck.

Make sure the laptop is off before attempting this.

Observe where the boot process ends and starts over.

In most cases, this will give an indication where the problem occurs.

If the laptop reboots early on in the process, for example when it is detecting the hard drive, chances are good it is a hardware issue.

If the reboot occurs further along in the process, like when it is loading operating system files, there may be an issue with operating system software.

Boot in safe mode or the operating system equivalent.

Windows, Unix/Linux and Mac operating system have a mode that will load the minimum software needed to boot.

This is a standard approach in troubleshooting, as it only supports the minimum hardware needed to complete the boot into the operating system.

Once you are logged into the computer, device drivers can be updated, software removed and so forth.

To boot into safe mode in Windows, hit the "F8" key when the computer first starts up to get a submenu.

From there select a boot option. Many choose "Safe mode with command prompt" as this will go line by line through the boot process, allowing you to isolate where the problem might be.

To boot into a different run level in Unix/Linux, it depends on the version of Unix/Linux, but most have the option of a "recovery mode."

During boot hit the "Esc" or "E" key and select the mode appropriate such as "drop to root shell," etc.

If you have the ability to get into command shell, enter into run level 1 (single user mode) by typing in "init 1."

To start in safe boot on a Macintosh laptop, hold the "Shift" key as it boots up.

This forces a disk check and loads minimal software in efforts to complete the boot process, much like the other operating system's "safe modes."

Check to see if your laptop is overheating.

Laptops have a greater likelihood of overheating than desktops.

Either touch the laptop or download an application such as Mobile Meter to check laptop temperature.

If it is running hot, try using canned air to clear out of vents, etc.

Also, elevating the laptop off of its resting surface allows greater airflow in and out of the laptop

hope this helps

Go to the Acer web site Support and Drivers, put your model number in, your operating system and order a DVD with a factory image for your Aspire One. It may cost you, but maybe not. Hello i have an Acer Aspire One model zg5 netbook

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

Failure to bootup

This message means that the computer could not find the MBR (master boot record) & the most likely cause is a hard disk failure. To prove this obtain an installation disk of an operationg system, say Windows XP, place the disk in the drive, and while its booting up, press F2. From the menu set the boot order to... 1. CD rom drive. Save and exit. The machine will now begin to install the operating system to your hard drive. If you get the same message again, you have a hard drive failure and it will have to be rep-laced.

Acer aspire 6920 back to factory settings

Acer sent me these instructions.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

Blue Screen c000021a

Next step is remove hard drive and see if it is recognized in another computer. The Hard Drive could just be bad, but you need to rule out the motherboard drive controllers that could also be bad. Also try a known good drive in your system.

Laptop won' boot up.

The blue screen means the system is experiencing a fatal error... a error from which it cant recover.... so while booting press f8 and boot using safe mode... then analyse the startup programs of your system using Start->Run and then typing msconfig in the window that appears and then going to the startup tab... one of your latest installed program might be misfunctioning....
