SOURCE: DVD Recorder Does Not Record

It took about 45 minutes, without a manual. Carefully disconnecting all cables and marking them so the would go back in the right place later. Carefully Disassembling the unit, removing the cover - 6 screws, noting all screws and where they came from, pulling the front panel using the plastic tabs, removing the top front edge cover - two screws, removing the disk assembly - 4 screws, pulling the two thin leads so I could pull the entire assembly out. Removing the back plastic cover from the DVD assembly and identifying the Optical Disc Lense. Spraying some LENSE CLEANER on the same cloth that I clean my glasses with, and carefully wiping across - gentle stroke in same direction, then opposite direction - a few times. Spray lense cleaner on the cloth not on the lense. Reassemble. Reverse order of above. Works great now. BEST OF LUCK....Or you can find almost any DVD repair facility. This is not a unique process. SOURCE: Presidian PDR 3222 not recording when record button pressed

I am beginning to think the machine works with slower discs but a firmware update will enable the machine to function with the newer "16x" and other discs. Unfortunately, neither Presidian nor the "real" manufacturer (whose name slipped my mind) seem to currently have the update available on their web sites.

SOURCE: Magnavox VCR/DVD recorder model ZV450mw8.

You will need a technical person to open the unit. This problem can be as simple as a dirty sensor, or bad tape drive parts, or burned out computer chip.

How do I get the DVD to record what is on the VHS tape not the TV?

You can record from an external component, such as a camcorder or VCR, connected to any of the Recorder's external inputs.
1. Make sure that the component you want to record from is connected properly to the Recorder. See page 14.

2. Press AUX repeatedly to select the external input to record from.
• AV1: Audio/Video Input mounted on back panel.
• AV2: Audio/Video Input mounted on front panel.
• DV: DV Input mounted on front panel.

page 37 from manual:
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/15/LVT2016-001B.pdf

If this fails, try to disconnect the tv input cable and connect the vcr cable.

Can the sansui vcr/dvd combo record vcr tapes to a dvd?

No, the DVD section only plays DVDs, to record VCR tapes to DVD you need a ripping device that digitalize audio and video (convert step) and then transfer to DVD specifications this data to disk (record step). The easiest way to do this is using a USB video capture adapter connected to your PC with a DVD recorder drive installed, the software to do this commonly comes as a bonus in the setup disk of the adapter.

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?

Solve the load or playback problem and it will probably record.

Time and poor storage conditions are the mortal enemies of tapes. Store the in a 'played

How do I record my vhs tapes to Disk

I have done a lot of dubbing on my machine. First make sure the DVD is formatted. When you put in a new disc it should ask you if you want to initialize. Once that is done, switch to VCR mode. push play on the VCR then push the DUB button on the front of the machine. I hope it helps.

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

Video recorded on a DVD-R does not want to play in my DVD player

some players will read vcd some won't. also your dvd that your using could be a problem some dvd players don't like some dvd media try tayo yuden's they are the #1 choice for dvd media.

However, try burning the disk into DVD format not VCD this way you will know if it's the media or the video type that your player doesn't like.
