When pressing number on laptop its showing characters

From your description I must assume that if all other keyboard functions and keys work properly then the keyboard is faulty. For the number keys to print the upper case characters shown on those keys requires a shift key to be depressed or stuck. If all other keys work properly, replace the keyboard. Otherwise look for a stuck shift key. I have found keyboards for sale on Ebay.

Why the The backlight of my keyboard on my Lenovo ideapad y480 isn't functional?

Many of the newer models (if you purchased during the Week/1TB sale Lenovo did) they do no include back-lit keys.
I received mine around 9/19/12 and it did not come with back-lit keys.

Unless you have physically inspected the underside of the keys and you see the diodes, then you should contact Lenovo.

Lenovo Laptop 3000 N100: When Pressing some keybord characters it gives additional characters for example: Pressing on "n" gives 6n, pressing on 5 gives 5b. Thanks.

Hi doronzl,
As soon as you turn the computer ON press and Holding down the FN key+the Num lock key, if this does not work uninstall all Lenovo programs such as ooVoo, IDvault, Lenovo Easy Share, Lenovo Guarded ID, and also uninstall Lenovo Readycom, FYI after uninstall Lenovo Readycom it will restart your computer, that is OK. OH yeah try uninstall the Lenovo Smile Dock as well if you have that it will only give you a smiley face on your desktop and nothing else.
You do not need to uninstall Lenovo Veriface if you have that, No need to uninstall Lenovo Easy Camera or Lenovo Cam suite which ever you have, No need to uninstall Energy Management.
If still the issue is the same I suggest that you restore that machine back to factory defaults to see if the issue will still be the same if it will be the same then this is going to be a keyboard problem and needs replacing.
I hope this Helps.
Have a nice day,

I bought a lenovo ideapad z560 for my sister in march and she tells me that several keys in the keyboard stop working. Is that a software problem? or a hardware? what can be done?

Welcome to Fixya

It could be software problem. Try to restore the computer back to the factory state. Turn off the computer then press the small button located beside the power button then follow to on-screen instruction to restore it from initial state. By doing this, we will now clear any software issue in the computer since it will be restored from the date it was purchased. If same thing will happen after restoreation then you need to send in the computer to depot repair depatment for keyboard replacement. I believe the computer is still under warranty. You may call 18774536686 then press option 2 for hardware support/repair.

Thank you for using Fixya!
