Tried using self clean cycle. No response. Turned off breaker at panel for 20 minutes. Tied self clean again. Still no respone. Few hours later preheated oven to heat frozen pie. Went to put pie in oven and door had latched closed. Turned oven off. All kinds of clicking and creeping sounds happened while oven cooled off. The door is still latched closed.
Sounds like the lock motor has failed. Lots of clicking noises and not being able to lock/unlock is normally a good indicator. In some rare circumstances, main control board could be faulty. Look for me on 6ya if you need any more detailed help.

ove corse you need to make sure your oven is or has cooled down and turn the breaker off for good measure I had this problem. I think the locking unit is jumping gears because i hear a grinding sound when Mine locks. The way I got mine open was, Lookalong the top of the oven door. there are vent slits cut in the top, if you look in them where the latch is you will see the hook that is holding the door shut. I took a butterknife ( you need something flat and strong because of the angle yu have to hold it at. take the knife and push the hook to the left. I will take a few tries but it should pop open. once it is open and power is restored the latch will retract to its normal position. hope this helps

I had the same problem happen tonight. I have an XL44 self-cleaning gas range. We unplugged it for several minutes and pressed 'cancel' a bunch of times--neither worked. We finally lucked out--opened the oven door and pressed a black button on the upper left side of the front of the oven. It turned out the flashing words and unlocked our door. Weird. There was nothing in the manual about this...

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.
