Overhead light turns on when walking into garage. sensors turn it on. how can we fix this?

Hi Laura:
Mine does this too. I just thought that it was supposed to do this as it made sense to me. The light automatically turns off after a few minutes, so if the sensor indicates that someone is walking in and out while the door is open, the light stays on.
I'm thinking........... It ain't broke..... don't fix it.

Check the spring above the door, mine would go up a couple of inches and we found that the spring had broke.

When the sensors on the garage door are broke the light doesn't come anymore but when you close the garage door and brake the sensor the door stops and opens

If when you place an object between the sensors the door reverses to the open position they are doing what they are supposed to. You may have a bad bulb or need to pull out on the center contact in the socket. Be sure to unplug the unit first.

Chamberlain 102-1499A Opens w/ remote. Will not close w/remote.

If when you try to close the door the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position you have a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have a bad sensor.

Have to hold button down to close door in cold weather

You have a photo eye (sensor) issue as you suspected. Be sure both green lights are on.  If one is flashing or is off, the photo eyes need to be realigned or there may be a wire shorting out (check for staples in the wire) to the photo eyes.  Sunlight can also be an issue.  The photo eyes might have to be moved away from the opening to be out of the sunlight.

Wiring chamberlain 1/2 h.p. security+

2 is the shared nuetral for the photo eyes and the wall button. 1 and 2 are for the wall button and 2 and 3 are for the safety sensors. All devices are polarized so keep that in mind. Thanks BB
