What does the drum do on my brother printer

The drum is the component that actually transfers the image onto the page.

Laser Printing 101. When a page is printed to a laser printer it is transferred to the laser printer via the network or usb cable using the driver installed on the PC. This information is then converted back into a format the printer can print through the Format board and the internal firmware of the Printer. This information is then transferred to the drum via a laser beam to a photo-sensitive film on the surface of the drum which is charged and allows the toner from the toner cartridge to stick to the drum which is then transferred to the page and the page is then fed through a Fuser (A heated roller which operates somewhere around the 300-500 degree cetigrade point) to fuse/melt the toner onto the paper which is then fed out to the paper cachment area you collect your printout from.

I hope that helps with your understanding.

Paper is print like as a dark photostate

Add a photo of a print out from the printer.
  • Could be a problem in the photo drum, try replacing toner cartridge
  • Could be a bad transfer roller
  • Could be a bad fuser.
Could be other things but these three are the most common issues.

Hello I have an HP 2600n and would like to print on 5x7 paper, is this a possibility with this printer? it seems that it will pull the paper through but nothing is printed

Copied this from the specification on HP site.

It would appear not to take 5 x 7. It's the 7" is to small, 8.5 is the smallest.

Media sizes, std.
Letter, legal, executive, No. 10 envelopes, Monarch envelopes
Media sizes, custom
Tray 1, 2, 3: 3 x 5 to 8.5 x 14 in
Media types
Paper (plain, letterhead, prepunched, bond, color, rough, preprinted, recycled), HP Color Laser Glossy Photo Paper, HP Color Laser Glossy Brochure Paper, HP Color Laser Matte Brochure Paper, HP Color Laser Matte Photo & Imaging Paper, HP Color Laser Soft Gloss Presentation Paper, HP color laser transparencies, labels, envelopes, cardstock

I have photo transfer paper for laser printers. It suggests setting the paper setting for ultra heavy paper. How do I do this? Will this paper from "Tulip" hurt my printer?

go to start, programs, printers, right click on your printer and then left click on properties.

after that there should be an option for your printing preferences. from there you should be able to select your paper type.

using transfers should not damage your printer as long as it is a laser grade paper

What kind of photo paper should I use to print out photos? I have tried HP photo paper , 222g/m2. but the surface of the print feels like it has "melted" and there are black and white areas on the right...

Hi Anne,
The printer you have is a laser (LED) printer. This means it uses high temperature at the end of the printing process to "fix" the image into the paper. The paper you appear to have used is for a HP Inkjet printer...basically when you put that paper through your laser printer it "melt it" and blister it. What you need to use is Laser photo paper (here an example)

My printer jammed when I tried to print a Tshirt transfer.

Most Tshirt transfer paper is fairly thick you could try a different brand and double check that you are printing on the transfer paper not the thin separtion sheets used to stop the paper sticking together.

Color photos come out awful!

I can only hazard a guess but it sounds like your photo paper is not absorbing the ink correctly or the ink does not have time to dry before the next page comes out

As for transfer to next page do you mean when the next one comes out and drops on the first or as it is going through the printer.

If it is after it comes out then you may want to print one at a time and take them off the printer before the next one comes out and place it where it can dry.

Photos do take a little longer to dry than regular paper.

This may be the cause

Printing 4x6 photos on photo paper

Sorry but your question seems to be unclear.
Here are the solutions that I see:
- try fixing the orientation of your paper on the printer:
-- go to printer "properties" then select "paper" then set it to
landscape or portrait. You might just have to cut the extra
- try changing the paper size on the printer "properties" if it has
no 4x6 then choose "custom size"

Samsung CLP-300 dark prints and smears

For starters remember this is not meant to be a PHOTO Printer, I am guessing the Spearing is because Glossy paper does not hold the toner like Regular paper or at least until it is fused. I am a technitiian and i also own this printer.
