Yes, I know Panasonic DVD S48, if your movie file is right divx avi movie file, you can directly transfer the divx avi movie file to your usb disk and play on your Panasonic DVD S48, but if your movie files isn\'t divx avi movie file, you have to use a right software to convert your movies to right divx avi movies, then transfer to your usb disk, convert any movies to divx avi movies.
I have the same TV and can play most AVIs that are DivX or XviD encoded, though it seems to crash on files > 1gb. The USB must be a thumb drive of 4gb or less as far as i can tell.
Id still like a firmware update to support larger drives, more formats, fix above avi issue and a progress bar like on recorded TV.
Download the latest firmware from panasonics website, that will update the internal software engine that is in the recorder and maybe that will allow it to play and record avi, divx, etc. Its like updating the bios that all computers have, everything is a factor right down to who made the disc and format of the disc to disc size, etc. To update the firmware you must first download the file via the internet from another pc or if you are connected to the internet via ethernet cable to the recorder then you will be able to do that thru the on screen menu from the recorder,if you download the file from another pc ,you will need to put the file on either a memory card or disc and then go to update firmware thru the on screen menu and then let it know where the firmware is (browse to it)double left click the file and then press update firmware.Hope this solves your issue,if not let me know,be glad to help you get it right, thanks and good luck.
Hi, I took a look at the firmware version that should be on your player and it appears to differ. The latest firmware version is 18.104.22.168. The description on the product does not specify avi playback, so let's begin with the assumption that their product specs page is accurate. Let's begin with making sure the correct firmware installed in your unit and go from there. Here's a link:
