Question about Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine
My son was showing off for a girl and tried to make her a Latte from my Silvia (ignoring my request to keep his hands off). Long story short, he left the steam switch on and walked away. I found Silvia dead the next day. I have reset protection and replaced both thermostats, but the boiler ready light does not go off. I'm guessing my heater element has been damaged and therefore not getting hot enough to trigger the thermostats. I do get hot water and some steam, but Silvia is not working right. What else might be the problem,or do I have my son buy me a new machine? Is there a test I can do on the heater element, i.e. Ohm meter? Can I buy a replacement element? Thanks!
If you have an ohms meter, do a check of the element in the boiler. The reading should be between 12 and 16 ohms. If you don't have any reading, you have a bad element and need to replace the boiler.
