Take the front cover off by removing the 2 screws at the bottom, pulling the bottom outward until the clamps come loose at the top(carefull it happens quickly and there is a wire to the door switch still attached. Now start the dryer and watch for the igniter to glow. If it glows and the gas doesn't ignite most likely a bad solenoid on the gas valve. Easy to test should have about 50 ohms on the 2pronged one and it's th one that usuallly goes bad. Assuming you will disconnect power whenever removing any connections or covers. If you don't feel comfortable starting the dryer with cover off just test the solenoid--don't need power to do that.

If your pilot light is not burning, change the thermocouple. They are relativly cheap.

The Thermal Fuse or Thermal disconnect is connected with gray wires labeled 50 and 51. It is to the left under the lint filter.

LDG8406AAE Maytag Drier. Still no glow. The thermal fuse cutoff seems intact. Each terminal on it (installed with the power on) measures approximately 125 v. on each side to ground. The pilot unplugged measures about 29 v. across the terminals and .1 and .2 v. to ground. I replaced the pilot and still no glow.

It just doesn't seem like my frigidaire gas affinity dryer is drying as fast as it should

Hey Car Guy,.. there are two factors that determine how fast the clothes will dry:
1- air temperature, Is the gas burner is lighting and heating the air? Just stop the dryer mid-cycle and feel the clothes - if they are hot, then the burner/heating part of the dryer is working ok.

2 - adequate air going through the dryer. This is usually where the problem lies. There is a lint filter at the dryer somewhere, accessed either where the door opens, or on the top of the dryer....there may be an additional lint filter somewhere on the exhaust duct. Check for that, and check your air flow where it exhausts outslde. See that the flappers of the backdraft damper aren't stuck closed etc.

If you have good heat and good air flow, then it's doing all it can.

I have a GE DPGT750 Gas Dryer. The dryer will not heat up. Air is blowing out of the exhaust outside. However, the air is cold.

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Kenmore dryer Model #6507923 Gas sometimes won't

You may have a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple senses the heat from the flame and "tells" the control unit that the flame has lit. If it is sending no signal, the control will think it didn't light and shut off the gas to prevent an explosion. Good luck.

Dryer turns and air blows, but no heat. GGQ8811KQ0

Make sure that your dryer air vent is not being blocked by lent, and if it is not it is your element or thermocouple?

Kenmore dryer wont work

Electric or Gas?

If electric, the element is gone or a fuse blew or the airflow thru the dryer is restricted or a sensor is bad and 'lying' to the CPU.

Check the filter, check the hoses for lint, check the outside vent flap to be sure it isn't stuck (possibly painted) closed. The air has to BLOW a certain CFM or neither ELEC or GAS type will turn on.

If Gas, the pilot isn't lit or the electronic ignition isn't firing or the gas supply valve is bad/stuck or the thermocouple that tells the CPU that the 'heat is on is 'lying' or the sensor that tells the CPU the Air movement is OK' is bad.

My dryer wouldnt heat because a thermocouple in the exhaust pipe was lying - stuck ON and telling the dryer it was already hot enough. ;-)

If you do the troubleshooting, do NOT forget to unplug first!

Maytag dryer does not maintain heat and clothes smell

Check coils on burner assembly. Often when a dryer heats initially and then stops heating a coils has gone bad.
