Suspect arms not rotating

Although water comes out of the holes, both arms not rotating. The machine is 8 years old and has been used twice a day on average. Not enough water pressure from the pump?

There is insuffient water in appliance it needs 32 litres to wash properly and have enough pressure for wash pump to drive spray arms round this is quite easy to fix but messy, remove base panel plastic and metal one behind this exposing a plastic corrugated hose this will be blocked with fat limescale etc and needs cleaning it is a push fit with o rings pull out clean pipe refit and all should be well.also check holes on ends of spray arms are not blocked as they will not rotate but water will still come out

hope this helps

Milky water when rinsing in dishwasher & gritty covering on dishes

I have spent many years (47) in the catering industry using catering dishwashers, under counter models, corner- wash stations and also conveyer machines..

The milky water is a by-product of the wash water and rinse water mixing.

The spray are has to rotate freely or the dishes won't wash or rinse properly. They spins a lot faster than you realise and this adds pressure to the water, but also a pulsating effect to remove dirt.

Over doing the salt can cause more problems that it solves. The gritty film may indeed BE salt. I actually prefer Calgon as a softener.

My advice is to remove both top and bottom spray arms. Check the slots/holes for obstruction, and run water through them under a tap, outside to inside (the opposite to how it is in the machine) rocking the arms up and down to allow any obstructions to flush out. Lemon pips and toothpicks are out biggest problem! Put the arms back and make sure they spin freely. Sometimes they just lock up for no apparent reason!

Use CLR descaler in the machine to clean it using the instructions on the bottle. Then run the dishwasher using the recommended doses of detergent and rinse aid.

Both lower and upper arms not spinning. Checked everything else. Also I have had this fault twice before in the last x2years. But never both arms at once. Repairs are costing me more than the price of...

Hi sixsister501,

Firstly check the spray arms - especially the holes where water would flow through (The Spray holes), usually these holes are clogged by dirt etc. Clear them with ear-buds and toothpicks.

If they are clean, it could be that your Circulation Pump has gone (Most likely actually), then I would advise you to purchase a new Dishwasher. They tend to be between 25% and 60% the price of the whole machine.

Hope this helps, hope it is only the holes :-)

Kind Regards

Dishwasher is not cleaning top rack

If the top rack is not getting clean, then either the spray arm holes are slightly plugged and not allowing enough water flow to the machine. The water coming from the arms also makes the arms moved in a circular direction which also helps in cleaning. Either the arm is plugged and not allowing water flow or the arm is stuck and not rotating. I would use a toothpick and clean all the holes first. Then try it. Try and spin arm by hand and make sure it spins very easy and freely. If not, replace it or dismantle it and clean it really good so there are no clogs and it can spin easily.

I have a bosch dishwasher, the arms are clear with water coming out but not spinning. how can I fix this?

water coming out of horizontal holes is not enough to rotate arms remove them and check the outermost holes these are angled so they rotate the arms they will be blocked even though all the others are clear.

Suspect blockage top rotating washer arm does not spin

Both arms (upper and lower) are fed from the back of the machine, when you close the door the arms make a water tight seal with the pumped water in your washer.
Check to see that when the machine is full that both the arms will turn with very little pressure. (watch out for forks sticking out of the cuttlery tray etc.)
You can usually clear a blockage by putting a bag over the back of the arm that engages with the pumped water on the arm that "IS WORKING" this will increase the pressure to the arm that is not working usually freeing the obstruction.

LG LDS5811WW Low pressure out of spray arms

On the LG LDF xxxx dishwasher family, the Vario feature uses a motor/check valve to switch between "full power" cleaning from _either_ the lower or the upper spray arms, never at the same time. So, not seeing the upper arm spin during the lower arm spinning is standard operating procedure.

But back to your problem. Step one would be to remove the filter assembly again and make certain that there is nothing (debris, broken glass) blocking the white areas where the check valve rotates to switch between upper/lower spray arms. A blockage there ~could~ cause impotent spraying/cleaning.

If there is no blockage and the impeller remains in good shape, suspect a failing wash pump motor. Try to isolate the noise to that motor.

Watch for error codes on the display and report back what you find, OK?

Good Luck!

Figidare dishwasher

It seems other posts were correct - The upper arm doesn't spin all the time. Once I learned that, and let the dishwasher cycle through, I saw that the upper arm does spin. So, there wasn't a problem with the upper arm afterall. That doesn't solve my crusty dishes problem, but that may have something to do with the soap we're using. We're going to try changing that next.

Dishwasher not washing very well

usual reason is that the arms are not rotating freely - they only turn by water jetting out of angled jets. blockages are not always obvious as blockage material tends to go out of sight when water pressure off. favourite culprits are rice and sweet corn

GE microwave oven

Does the turntable rotate? If everything but this works (except no heat), you probably have a bad door switch. Here's a discussion of what's involved in replacing it: http://www.fixya.com/support/t267796-kenmore_microwave_hood_combination_over

If the turntable does rotate, I'd suspect a more significant failure, such as the transformer, capacitor, or magnetron. If it's any of these, it's time to replace the unit.
