No Audio file; no sound

I had a problem with a sound card on a Dell machine. All test showed it was working fine but it still produced no sound. I tried reloading the driver and then tried a newer driver going to the manufacturers web site for support and it still did not work. I did make an observation that some Windows sounds (like a new email) was coming through. I use HMDI for both sound and video so I wondered if by chance the video card (Nividia) could do it all. I removed the sound card but nothing changed. I went into BIOS and found that there was a sound card integrated into the MB. I activated the integrated sound and now all works beautifully and the original sound card sits on my shelf. If you have an integrated sound card make sure it is not ON if you also are using the discrete card and also if you remove your discrete card then turn the integrated on, It worked for me.

Your Device Manager not registering the device is worrisome. Maybe remove the card reboot and then shutdown reinstall the card and reboot and see if it picks it up. Oxide or dust on the pins can be a problem. There are parts cleaner sprays that help, the fumes are strong so make sure you have good ventilation and try not to breathe any more fumes than necessary.

Sound like you having graphics problems, maybe your card getting to hot. Try to download newest graphics driver from your manufactory website and hold your laptop cool. Sounds like a typically overheat problem

Microphone suddenly stopped working

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your sound card driver. Also do the same for any software that has anything to do with your sound card. If this diesn't work, try restoring to a point before you had the problem. If you is usb and one is standard then it has to be soundcard or software, more then likely it's a driver issue.

Yes that is the way to go unless you want to buy a sound card and stick it in an open slot if you have one.

Acer sound card plug?

Maybe the sound cable was disconnected. It is a 3 pins connector. It is not easy to see on the motherboard. The sound cable of your sound card has to be connected there. You might have to bring your computer to a repair service desk. I have also an Acer computer. And on mine, it is located near the rear on the computer.

Hello matbedui,
If you think the Radeon card is overheating you can check this by simply touching the card after it's been running for sometime. Some Radeon cards (high end) do have this problem. PC cases that do not have sufficient fresh air flow cause problems not just to video cards but to everything inside the case. The design of the HIS Radeon X1650 is less than sufficient. Keeping air flow contained. One way in & one way out. This issue is so important many companies creat sites to help you cool your card.

Your Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ II runs ATI's chips. Installing the latest software is recomended. Download from here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Pick your OS. Than pick Radeon. Scroll down to your X1600 series. You can also update through HIS. Their software is twice the size of the ATI software.

Good luck!

Sound

First make sure it is not muted. You can also check and maybe update the sound card drivers.

It's also possible that it's a hardware problem, e.g. broken speaker wires.
