If you have a stereo near by: Take you audio output from your computer and hook it up to the Tape - VCR - CD Inputs of your Stereo.

Computer Output: 1/8" Plug
Adapt it to a RCA Y Plug
and into your Stero

I did it and now could crack my windows if I turn the volume up too high

My grandad has bought a computer and i tryed to show him how to play a dvd but no sound was playing. I found out there was no sound card? I dont actually know what this means but surely a computer should...

If there is no sound card. Probably it was disabled the sound and maybe there is no really sound card was installed. To make it short buy a PCI sound card, turn off your computer and install the card to PCI slot and turn on your computer and your computer will detect that there is a found new hardware. Ignore it and insert the cd installer and install the driver of your sound card. If it's ask you to restart just restart your computer to update its system. In case that there is a built in sound on your computer check your motherboard model and search for the driver from their official website and download and install, if you download the correct driver it will automatically installed your sound and your sound will be working. Have a nice day!

Hi though the speakers are connected to the computer i am not able to hear any sounds .please can you help me.

Getting no sound from the computer considers a lot of issues: 1. There can be a problem with the sound control :
  • Right-click the sound icon on the system tray and choose Open Volume control
  • Check if there a check on mute on all the boxes below
  • If there is a check try to uncheck it and try the sound again
2. Problem with the sound card drivers:
  • Click on start > then click on My Computer (XP) / Computer (Vista / Windows 7) and choose properties
  • Click on Hardware in XP / device manager in vista / 7
  • On device manager look for the sound information
  • if there is a ? mark means that the driver is not installed
  • if there is x mark means sound card is disabled
  • if there is ! means that the driver is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled
if the said option didn't solve the problem, there is a possibility that your sound card is faulty and needs to be replaced
Hope this info would help your concern
Cheers!!

How would i know if i have a sound card

There are 3 possible scenarios:
  1. You have an "external" sound card
  2. You have a "built-in" sound card
  3. You have no sound card
External sound cards are separate extension cards that is plugged into the CPU to give it additional functionality like giving a high definition sound through high specs sound cards. It looks like below:

And when inserted in the CPU, it gives you an extended sound port at the back like below:

While built-in sound cards are those that are already provided by the motherboard that your computer has. The provide the same sound ports especially the color for the ports since these are industry standards.

Please take a look at the rear part of your computer. If there is, then you've got a sound card plugged in. Now make sure the necessary software is installed.

  1. Right click "My Computer" and click "Properties"
  2. Click the Hardware tab and click the "Device Manager" button. Locate the "Sound ... group and you should see if there are red "x" or yellow question marks "?" there. If there are, you need to install the software for your sound card.
