Question about Cameras

I cleared the DCIM from my VPC-5500 Sanyo. Now the camera will turn on but only has a black screen regardless of the mode setting.

Do you even know the model I am inquirying on? I put new batteries in before I ask for a solution, and yes I checked them on a tester to insure they were servicable. The only thing I did was to clear the DCIM file. Before that the camera was in fine working order. If you can not come up with anything better, I dont think I need your assistance thank you.

Hi,

Connect the memory card to the computer using a card reader and create a folder names DCIM on the card. Reconnect the memory card to the camera and check if it helps.

I will have to check in my camera for the same settings. if the issue persists then let me know.

This might seem like a stupid question, but have you removed the lens cap?
When the camera won't turn on or shows black screen check the batteries. Connect camera to an AC adapter. Remove all batteries, disconnect AC adapter, wait a minute, reinsert batteries and reconnect adapter. Recharge batteries only as described in the user's manual.Turn on camera. If the camera gets wet, turn it off if it's on. Remove all batteries and media. Let it dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting batteries.
if the above method doesnt fix ur problem... its likely ur ccd or the ribbon cable....
You've probably got something as simple as a ribbon cable loose in the
camera. Beware though dismantling is a serious task unless you have
experience.
also ccd might have gone loose....
the CCD is often connected in such a simple, analog-esqe, way
that disconnecting it doesn't cause an error, just a black screen.
testing the ribbon cable or ccd wud require some hindsight into the optics of digital cameras... i wudnt advice u to do it urself unless ur comfortable with doing it....

thank you for using fixya... have a nice day

Black screen on my digital camera

Sounds like the back light has gone. Probably not worth fixing as it would probably be to expensive because of whats involved in the repair. It's only cheap Sanyo rubbish anyway.

Sanyo VPC-5500 says "card locked"

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Memory Error appears on screen

Just had this problem myself. What you do is press the Mode button twice until it shows a black background with the words Memory Error on top of it (this should be the picture preview mode). Then press the Menu button and press the 4-way button right to enter the Setup Menu. Go down and Format the camera and that will fix it.

Good luck.

Is there any free software I can download to retrieve photos on the sanyo VPC 5500 no memory card"

Sadly not, when you format the card or memory, it wipes it clean off the system. Unlike Hard Drives, there is no magnetic trace from which you could reconstruct the data. Sorry it's not good news :(

LCD Screen Stays Black

Had the same problem. It nearly drove me mad, however, the fix seems quite simple. The screen in playback mode seemed to be fine but if I swithed to record or photo mode I just got a black screen. I could see some pixel movement so I figured the screen was okay and that the iris was the problem.

Anyway, to fix it I simply gave a few sharp taps on the camera body near the lens. This unstuck the iris and I was greeted with a clear image in the LCD viewfinder. The camera now works fine.

By the way, this seems to be a fairly common problem with a lot of the different models and not just limited to this one.

Hope this helps.

The sound with the sanyo(vpc-5500) digital camera

I thought my pink sanyo VPC-5500 was messed up, but once I imported my pictures and viceos onto my computer, I opened up a vidoe player and the sound worked perfectly. So if you have the USB cable, hook your gigtal camera up to your computer and import what's on it, then you will be able to open up a video player and watch a video that was stored on it.
