Re: CMOS??

If you are booting from DOS, it is, as you say, a setting in the BIOS that likely controls whether the video signal is expanded to fill the screen.

If you are running a DOS shell and want it to be a different size, try creating a new shortcut on the desktop and when asked to navigate to the program, type in "CMD" and then NEXT... When the shortcut is created, right-click and then PROPERTIES will allow you to make the DOS session window full screen, and any size you specify.

PS: If the problem is that you cannot access the BIOS (CMOS), watch on boot time for a message about accessing the BIOS (usually DELETE or F10); if there is no message, boot the machine holding down the escape key; this drives most machines to find a keyboard error, prompting you to enter the BIOS to correct it.

Good luck...

I've found it is highly unlikely to run an old DOS program in Win2000 so I have decided to setup an old computer with Win 3.1 and use it for my DOS software.

Cmos bios setup utility

Hi, On some Compaq models, entry to CMOS/BIOS setup requires pressing F10 as soon as the cursor (white box) appears in the upper right hand corner of the screen (The cursor is displayed on the screen for about two seconds. If you do not press F10 during this time, you must restart the computer and try again.); Alternately on some other models, it is at boot when you see the "Compaq" log in big letters. hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

My compaq armada 3500 wont boot up or only shows the welcome compaq logo

I think that has to do with the BIOS if it cant boot compeletly. Try pressing the key indicated to enter into SETUP if you cant just try and look for a jumper on the motherboard that is written CMOS it may be a button or something.

Big problems

If it gets to boot up screen you should be able to get into the bios; keep pressing either F2 or DEL when it boots up to get into advanced cmos settings, then make the cdrom as the first boot device. Press 'Y' when asked if want to save settings, then exit the bios screen and allow it to re boot, with your XP disc in the cdrom drive.
