Hi Colton...This model TV had a high level of backlight failure and I'd give you a 95% chance of the backlight strips being bad, what generally happens is some of the lamps short and it drives up the current, the over current section of the power board inverter section shuts down, this is why you see a picture for a few seconds when you power the set on. New lamps should fix it, there isn't a simple way to test the inverter unless you have some higher end test gear and the electrical engineering knowledge to figure what the draw should be and compare it to the draw you see, to complicate matters it's the negative side of the inverter that's regulated not the hot side, also a signal comes from the main telling the inverter to turn on and that can cause backlight issues but like I said with the past history of backlight failure on this model chances are really good your backlights are bad...Hope this helps
U mean the tv have pictures flashes only a few sec. than dies have the tv pragram sound left only?Yes? Mean ur tv have a tv LCD Screen Panel have no tv LCD screen backlight to produce tv pictures tv now are having backlight problems. The tv have 1 or 2 long boards that are called LCD inverter boards problems and the causes. These 1 or 2 long Lcd inverter boards only job are to produced backlight for the tv LCD screen panel to hold on to give the tv screen panel to have pictures only.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,EBAY.COM to those refurbishes 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacement.
No,ur Main Tuner signal board is the problems.Because when the LCD inverter board problems,u get no video or any backlight to the LCD screen at all, only sound.
Ur tv have a dead electronic's board known as a LCD inverter backlight board.Replaced this LCD inverter backlight board,u will get the picture back.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish LCD inverter backlight board for the replacement. It a long in shape board.
my mums dose the same and she has to keep pressing the tv/dtv button on the remote for ages and it comes on eventualy has anybody got a permenant fix for this problem
There are a few things that can cause this fault, but the most common is the High Voltage Capacitors that feed the backlights going bad. The invertor and power supply are on the same board (Vestel 17IPS01-2)
The caps are on the power supply board and are C355 & C356 (12pf 3kv) and C354 (4.7pf 3kv). If you replace these caps it will solve the problem in 99% of cases.
If replacing these three caps do not solve the problem then it may be easier to replace the power supply board... as fixing means replacing a tiny surface mount chip with loads of legs.
WARNING: The Power Supply/Invertor board can contain LETHAL VOLTAGES even when turned off and unplugged. if you are not sure, Pay someone to do it for you!
If you can see the backlight ,white 2pin connectors connect to invertor pCB.Look around these two connectors you should see 2 brown/yellow/red transformers with a ferrite core. These are the inverter transformers , resolder all pins and power transistors around it.
That should solve your proble.
Please provide feedback and rate this solution.
Samir.
You also might check to see if there is a HOTKEY setting for the brightness of the screen (usually FUNCTION or FN and then some key on the top row).
Replacing the backlight on an LCD is a very advanced and trouble prone procedure, unless you are good with soldering and taking things apart, you should probably use it with an external monitor or think about getting a new machine. :>|
