Hi. No it's not working no electrics what so ever

I would check and make sure there is voltage in the battery and then check the main fuse that is right next to the battery. If both of those are good you will need to test for voltage at the back of the switch. If you have voltage there, you will need to make sure that you have voltage out of the switch when you operate the key.

If you hooked the small wires that are supposed to go on the big stud onto the small stud this will keep the starter activated. Also could have got a bad starter out of the box it happens.

Check the manual for the location in the underhood fuse box of the 80A battery fuse. None of your car's OEM parts will work with this pulled or blown.

I have a 97 ford expedition with a no start issue I've changed the starter and the starter relay I've checked the ground what else could it be

If it starts randomly across the starter relay solenoid it wouldn't be the mega fuse. need to check the ignition switch? check if the relay clicks when you turn the ignition switch.

Won't start but lights on dash work. Replaced battery, terminals and cleaned frame ground.can get it to start by bridging over the solenoid and starter with screw driver.

Hi Kristy Ferrell,

Great beginning! That is an excellent indication... You PROVED the starter... but not the SOLENOID:

Now apply that same battery to the SOLENOID input terminal... (the one coming from the IGNITION SWITCH)...

((real old cars had buttons, pedals... and yes cranks)).

Keeping in mind (you are bypassing ALL safety contacts (like "neutral safety switch")

~~ Caution
(speaking from (a intelligence challenged) experience)

If you have it in REVERSE... expect a wild ride... Especially if you are resting your shoulders on the gas pedal... upside-down... playing with the neutral safety switch... 50+ years ago.

My mentor (master mechanic) only thought it was funny because I missed hitting anything in HIS parking lot.

(or disconnect the coil PRIMARY)...

If the battery to the SOLENOID turns over the starter...
you are going back into the IGNITION CIRCUIT.

AUTOZONE has complete schematics for SOME vehicles.

If you are serious about this site... your vehicle model & year can produce some great (specific... possibly productive) suggestions.

Hope some of this helps! Good luck.

Turn the key and nothing happens. But, I can turn the switch to on and cross jump the relay and start the engine.

You could have any number of defects causing this problem.

If the starter works when you short across the relay, it's clearly not that, but it cloud be the relay itself, which is not uncommon. You can test to see if the relay is engaging by supplying electrical power to the smaller positive connecter on the relay using a piece of wire direct from the battery. If that works your problem is in the electrical supply from the starter switch, which is usually part of the ignition switch. For example, if you engage the start position with the ignition on, you should get an electrical voltage at the small terminal on the starter solenoid that you previously shorted with the bit of wire. The starter circuit will be protected by a fuse or circuit-breaker, if the problem is with the electrical supply to the solenoid/relay then you need to check the starter fuse or circuit breaker. If the fuse looks intact you need to check it with a meter as looks can be deceiving. If the fuse checks out as good then the problem is either the starter switch failing to make a good contact or a break in the wire between the switch and the solenoid/relay.

If you decide to check the starter switch, it is not uncommon to find a voltage at the switch but due to bad or dirty contacts in the switch, insufficient electrical current will pass to engage the solenoid/relay. This will of course be the same when you check for electrical supply to the relay, that is why you need to try to engage the relay with a remote bit of wire. Unless you can dismantle the switch and clean the contacts you may need a new switch. So, check the wire from the switch to the relay. If you remove the small positive wire at the relay and attach your remote power supply to the end of the wire, taking care to insulate the connection to prevent it shorting on anything else, you should get an electrical power reading on your meter at the start switch. If you don't you have a broken wire or connection. Sometimes it's easier to run a new wire and isolate the old one, if this is the case and you can't find an obvious break in the connection. Rgs. Bob

I have 2000 Dodge Stratus. Every time I try to start the car. Its not making any noise. My boyfriend checked it and he thinks its electrical problems. But he checked the starter motor last night by taking...

Checking the starter separate was a good step. Now that you know it works, start backwards. You'll need a test light for this. Connect the alligator clip to ground and check to see if you have power at the smaller wire that goes to the starter. If you have no power (light doesn't turn on), check to see where your starter relay is located and swap it with one you know works like the horn. If it starts, you have a bad relay. If it doesn't start, you may have a bad ignition switch. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Pontiac vibe ignition switch? Intermittent dash

Basic electrical problem . loose connection on a ground circuit ,high resistance . There are no magical fixes for automotive electrical gremlins . Finding electrical wiring diagrams an voltage drop testing the electrical circuits is the only way to find the problem .
When the ignition switch is placed in the Start position 12 volts is supplied through the Park/Neutral Position Switch or Clutch Pedal Position switch to the switch and coil side of the Starter Cut Relay. If theft is not active the Theft Deterrent Module grounds the control side of the Starter Cut Relay closing its switch. Power then travels to the coils side of the ST Relay with ground at G200 closing the ST Relay. Power then flows from the Main fuse in the Fuse Block - Underhood through the switch side of the ST Relay and then to the S terminal of the Starter Solenoid. Ground is found through the engine block.

Bobcat 533 tilt and lift not working

The hydroloic pump that operates the lift is failing. The drive operates on a separate pump so that pump is good. Find the pump that the lift rams hoses go to. That's the one you need to examine. Check all connections. Electrical, hydrolic lines, vacume hoses... everything. If all that checks out, then you need to have the pump rebuilt or replaced
