On component your device may have to be on progressive. old dvd players you could switch back and forth on progressive and normal. the squigly lines sound like you need to make sure its on progressive. hook it up using the yellow video slot on player and tv (any cable will work). go into menu and look for progressive and change it on.

Trying to set up my new elements tv with a uverse wireless box. Did a channel scan but still can't find any channels. Help please!!

Is this a high def tv? Are you using an hdmi cable, component cable(red green & blue) or a low def coax cable to connect the tv? If coax, the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4. If hdmi or component cable is used you need to change your input on the tv with your remote to the matching input you wired it to. The uverse stb (set top box) changes the actual channels once you have selected the correct input.

I have a RCA Hd52w59 television that has a blurry red green blue colors on screen and the pics looked like they are caved in .any help ?

RED BLUE and Green are the component colors. If you are using component cables, which most likely you are, check to see if the Green has come unplugged. Try switching the cabls to a different input. Actually, if you get the same problem on another input that say....your DVD player is hooked to, you have a bad tv. If not, try to isolate it to the simplest thing first e.g. cables, input source, etc. Please don't forget to rate this solution for me.

No colour

Hi, Definitely a TV issue for me. Changed Wii to another input on TV and resolved situation. Need now to check how to get my TV to recognize colour on AV2 & 3 because I prefer to keep DVD input as AV1!

I had to use the (RCA) video inputs and not the component inputs. These are the ones made for video games. If you want to use the component input (Component cables are Red,White Red, Green, Blue). If you don't have any, you should be able to purchase them at your local electronics store like Radio Shack or Best Buy. Hope this helps, read below:

TV (This is your cable connection or TV; coax)
Component 1 (Must use component cables for this input/output; Red and White for audio, Red, Blue, Green for Video)
Component 2 (Must use component cables for this input/output; Red and White for audio, Red, Blue, Green for Video)
HDMI 1 (HDMI Cable)
HDMI 2 (HDMI Cable)
Video 1 (Must Use RCA cables, or RCA jacks; Red and White for Audio, Yellow for Video)
Video 2 (Must Use RCA cables, or RCA jacks; Red and White for Audio, Yellow for Video)

ShubhangiWe try to connect CD player with Samsung LCD TV. CD Player is having Three Component Yellow, Red,White. It dont have Blue and green components.What to do ???

Hi, Component input connectors use the colour convention
Green = Y (luminance signal)
Red = Pr or Cr (Red colour difference signal)
Blue = Pb or Cb (Blue colour diffrence signal)

Composite input connectors use the colour convention
Yellow = CVBS (composite video, blanking, sync)
Red = Audio Right
White = Audio Left

for compatibility both units will need to have matching colours. note the component inputs do not have audio and as such will also have a set of red & white connectors for use with the audio signals too ( rule of thumb Component = 5 connectors, composite=3 connectors)

Tv shows flickering pic in an ultra violet fashion

Your tv is having convergence issues, i.e the red, green and blue are not converging properly together to give a suitable picture. you will need to replace the two convergence ics (approx cost $30 a pair), they are rectangular shaped mounted on heat sink and black in color. You will also need to check if the resistors on the output pins of each ic are not open.
and finally you will need to re-focus the red and blue using the remote.

Hope this helps!

Mitsubishi WS 55711 convergence problem only with some inputs

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com
