Question about Gateway 450SX4 Notebook
I got a gateway 450sx4 for my birthday last year. It was working fine up until this moment. I had diablo 2 and sims on there and I have never had a problem with my laptop. The night before, I was playing sims and it was working no problem. This morning, I went on to do something else and it wouldn't turn on the display. I could hear the computer turn on, but the indicator light that is usually green was red and the monitor wouldn't turn on and I cuoldn't take out my game disc. After a while, I tried turning it on again, and it worked so I thought it was just overheated or something, but after a couple of minutes the screen turned blue and said there was a page error in a unpaged area. WHen that happens, I can't do anything but turn it off. I just tried it again and the display won't turn on at all no matter how many times I try it. I also can't move it or pick it up while it's on anymore because it freezes and I can't do anything. Please help me?
Unfortunately, its bad, I can think of three possibilities, bad ram, bad cpu, or bad graphics card, if its a bad cpu or bad graphics card, then unfortunately, its something really complicated to fix because its a laptop, the cpu is replaceable but its a really big hassle, the graphics card is usually on the motherboard, so its irreplaceable by it-self, but when it gets the bluescreen error, it will say an error like 0x000fe or some series like that, you can take that number, and go to microsoft.com, and search the error and it would most likely show you what the error is, if, it doesnt start at all, you can try testing the ram, or ram slots. Either replace the current ram, switch the ram from one slot to the other, or if it has two ram chips, remove one of them, and test them individually. Unfortunately, if this doesnt work, i would suggest taking it to a computer repair shop to test it, and possibly, but hopefully not, having to buy a new laptop.
