It depends on your model. was the i/m making ice b4 you replaced the wtr filter? if so, reinstall your filter again. i/m's normally rest or stop in the 2 o'clock position. are the teeth are stuck anywhere? it could be your i/m.

Timer ice maker kenmore side

If the timer piece you are referring to is behind the square white cover, and it's moving slightly back and forth, you should visually check the ice making area it's self to see if the ejector fingers are jammed with ice, or against the ice stripper. Ice Maker jams can be caused by reduced water pressure to the unit mainly from the water filter, your water filter in the toe kick should be replaced at an interval of 6 months to a year, regardless of filter status light. When water pressure is low, not enough water fills the unit and the undersized cubes can become lodged or stuck in the ice maker while being ejected, equally so if there is an over fill situation caused by other failures the ice maker can't eject at all. Ice maker stopped making ice

Here is a check list to use to verify ice maker is good or bad or if something else is causing the problem.
1) Has the water filter been changed recently, or does it need to be changed? The filter being old can cause a reduction on water and lower performance of anything else that requires water.
2) Check the temperature in the freezer. Even though things are frozen in there, the ice maker requires that the temperature be at least 10 degrees F to even cycle. Ideal would be around the 0 degree mark.
3) Check the fill tube where water comes into the ice maker. From time to time this will get blocked due to water freezing in the tube itself.
********* If the first three checks all pass, either the water valve is bad and not allowing water to come to the ice maker, or the ice maker itself is not calling for water **********
Depending on the age of the machine it might not be a bad idea to change the water valve and the ice maker together.

Ice maker will not refil with water.

The ice maker and the water valve are in cahoots. It is just them 2 that control the water to the ice mold. The cheapest component to replace is the water valve. If indeed it turns out your ice maker itself has gone haywire then you already have a new water valve to match it. Logically the thing to do first is replace the water valve. Note: If your ice box uses a water filter it might not be a bad idea to replace it also when replacing the water valve.

My ice maker doesnt make any ice

check fill tube in back to make sure no frozen ice obstructing water flow... also make sure you have a clean filter on unit or it has been changed recently.... there are normally dual water valves on these models... one will work dispenser and one will work ice maker make sure your getting water to ice maker itself... if you are indeed getting water it just will not dump most likely you have a broken gear motor orthe heater in the ice maker has failed.. get another ice maker ....

Whirlpool ED25RF Does ice maker have a filter? My ice taste funny and sometimes its dirty

The ice maker doesn't have a filter , the problem could be the ice maker itself that the tray ,which is made out of aluminum is losing particles.Look at the conditions of the ice maker tray ,if you see like white spots replace the ice maker.

Ice machine quit making ice

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.

if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.

Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.
