That gear should just pry off. Here is the new gear to order.
Here is the service manual for that ice maker but I don't think it will be that much help.

How to take out old ice actuator on Kenmore fridge

The easiest thing to do is remove the icemaker first. Ujnplug your fridge first, though. Take a 1/4" nut driver and remove the screw at the botton of the icemaker. Then loosen the 2 screws on the topside of the ice maker. You'll be able to see the back screw, but the front one is kinda'll have to use your fingers for eyes on that one! Lift up on the icemaker and it should come free from the screws. Disconnect the electrical plug, being sure to release the little latch on the side of the molex plug.

Now you can work on the icemaker....there is a white plastic cover over the end of the icemaker, pull that off and you can start to see the guts of the icemaker. There are 3 phillips head screws holding the motor module on, and the rest of it can be torn down from there. Good luck!

Loud noise from JD-21 ice maker

Usually a stripped gear or a bad icemaker motor. Remove the icemaker front cover by using a flat screwdriver to pry it off between the bottom of the icemaker and the cover. Inspect the icemaker to see if the large white plastic gear has any broken teeth or is cracked in the middle. The motor is in the 10:00 position of the white gear. If the gear is ok, and the noise is coming from the motor, replace the motor.
After unplugging the refrigerator you can remove the motor assembly by removing three screws in the mounting plate, and then two screws holding the motor on. The parts house also sells the complete icemaker, however your refrigerator is already 29 years old if I am reading your model number correctly. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

I need instructions on how to remo complete ice

You have 2 screws on the side wall. 3 screws on the bottom of the mold. You will need to remove the back panel and unhook the wires and pull the sensor wire out from behind the icemaker. Sensor just sits in tube. Then go back in front and turn the icemaker towards the center. you will have to clean the alumalastic off. Where old cloths to do this.
I hope the helps you. Make sure the icemaker you have looks the same as the old one.

Replacing icemaker in GE GSH25JSTE side by side refrigerator.

generally its very easy. for your model it looks like the icemaker goes across the rear of the freezer section. if you will look on the left hand wall on the icemaker you will see a philips head screw remove this screw and pull the icemaker towards you and it will come out then unplug the wiring harness (this is probably the hardest part) there are 2 clips that keep the harness connected securley and you sometimes have to use a small blade screw driver to release them. onec icemaker is removed you have to remove the fill cup and the end stop off of the icemaker and reinstall on the new icemaker. one done just reinstall and turn it on. youre done!! BTW the new icemaker mostlikely will not have the green light the old one did so dont think youve got the wrong icemaker.. let me know if you need any further help Thanks Peyton

Whirlpool Ice Maker Won't release ice

I have a 1993 year (16 years old now) Whirlpool side-by-side with icemaker, Model ED22PW. I have had similar problems with the icemaker - water goes in, freezes, but ice does not eject from tray. It has happened to this unit 2 times since 1993. It turns out the problem is not the thermostat. It is the icemaker motor module. The icemaker has a small synchronous (clock) motor that rotates the ice ejector. When it goes bad, the ejector does not rotate, either because the module timer had failed or the motor itself has failed. The solution is to go to your nearest applinace parts dealer and by a new "icemaker motor module" for Whirlpool Model (your model here). Mine cost $58.85 the last time I replaced it in 2006. To install the new module, you will need to remove the icemaker from the refrigerator. Mine has 3 screws that attach it to the side. Also unplug the power & control cable. The water tube slides out when you pull the unit forward. When you get it out, it is then easy to remove the motor module and insert the new one. You may have to reset the timer on the module to get the tray to fill completely.

Icemaker in 10 year old refrigerator

Thanks for your response.
I realize now that the answer seemed obvious.
I have not purchased a replacement icemaker so I don't have any installation instructions. What I wanted to do was remove the icemaker to see if I could see any problem; but I did not know what to expect in removing the icemaker. Are there any step by step instructions available online anywhere?
Thanks again.

Icemaker isn't making any ice

Your fill tube that fills the Icemaker could be froze up, The plastic tube that goes into the icemaker. Sometimes they get froze shut. You can remove it from the back of the fridge, just pull it out from the back and take a look. If that doesn't work, Let me know.
