You should be able to get all that info from the inside of the hood. (unless it has been replaced then that info wont be there). Only info I could help you with using the Vin # would be that the engine code is the eighth digit (M) and the model year code is the 10th digit (8)

I am trying to find out what size and year my engine is

Ok, no problem. Copy down your VIN number and go to a decoding site.
A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the string of 17 numbers and letters that an automobile manufacturer assigns to an individual vehicle. The VIN can reveal a number of things about a car, including its airbag type, country of origin, engine size, model year and trim level. The VIN also is key to car safety. By entering a VIN in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's free VIN Look-up Tool, you can see whether a vehicle is subject to a recall. Typically, the VIN is stamped into a plate that's mounted on the dashboard near the windshield or on the driver-side door jamb. It's also stamped on the engine's firewall.

I recently bought a 1994 honda civic, the intake got stolen and im having a hard time figuring out my car's engine size (number wore off) and i have no clue what kind of intake I should order online....

Hi Hannah, Your engine size should be listed on the emission sticker(on the hood or front radiator support, and its listed within the V.I.N.(vehicle identification number) the 6th digit of the VIN is your engine size. Here is a conversion for that year: "9"=1.6LiterVtec "8"=1.5Liter "6"=1.6LiterVtec "3"=1.6LiterVtec Below are pictures of your VIN and emission sticker.

Where is the ac compressor relay located

Hi - we're gonna need more than just "Acura" ---- model year and engine size, also 2WD/4WD and number of cylinders.
Engine code is 8th digit of VIN, and model year (I can do the translation) is the 10th digit of VIN.

Also engine identification can take place using various methods. The VIN, described earlier in this section, contains a code identifying the engine which was originally installed in the vehicle. In most cases, this should be sufficient for determining the engine with which your car is currently equipped. But, some older vehicles may have had the engine replaced or changed by a previous owner. If this is the case, the first step in identification is to locate an engine serial number and code which is stamped on the block or located on adhesive labels that may be present on valve covers or other engine components.

There are 2 different sizes of bushings for this particular year 1968, need to know when they switched from the 1 7/8 to the 1 1/2 diameter bushing? is it by vin # or production date?

Changes are almost always done by production date.Sometimes it is expressed as a date and sometimes they use a serial number or VIN number. The production date is your safest bet.
