It means that the laser head is no longer getting a good signal - the lens is dirty and you must clean it by using a cleaning disk : $10 at Walmart.
If the clean doesn't help then the dust has been baked on the lens - in that case you must replace the entire laser head. Find one in un its sold for parts, or discarded ones. If you can't find a replacement head then the un it is dead.
First thing-- try a disc drive cleaner (available at electronics stores) OR if you can see the laser lens when you open the tray you can clean it with a Que-tip and some rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, let me know.
the only way is cleaning the optic reader.Just wet in alcohol a swab -almost dry- and clean it.If this does not fix the problem, you may have to replace it.
Try cleaning the lens with a DVD Disc Cleaner or Methylated Spirit and a Q-tip, rub the lens slowly in a clockwise motion, leave to dry and put in a DVD, if it doesnt work try a CD but make sure they dont have any scratches or dust on them, if a CD works ( or not ) then your lens is knackered.

ok best bet is that your laser (what reads the discs) in your laptop is dirty, use a cd/dvd cleaning disc to clean the laser, can buy them from most computing, music shops
either needs to be clean or the REGION needs to be set up to 1 or ALL , LETS TRY WITH cleaning the OPTICAL LENS with a dry Q tip , gently rub a few strokes at the lens , and give it a try, if NOT then try to set the REGION to 1 or all, if still not reading the disc , then have to replace the optical lens, good luck , AJ
Did this problem just start? It may be due to the lens no longer reading the disc. Try a lens cleaner. If your lens went south, it usually is paired with a clicking noise or/and the combination of a no disc/disc error message. I would also recommend staying away from Polaroid dvd players and tv's in the future. They have a habit of not making parts available, especially after the warranty.
