Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Harmon Kardon AVR 146 amp has a problem - when it goes too loud - reaching 29.5 db it shuts off after giving this msg ''PROTECT'' on the amp panel. Meaning as long as we are using the amp at 30 or above 30 db - it stays on. What should i do??

Hiya check all the speakers are working and one is not faulty. Can do this by checking one at a time connected to the amp. You could also possibly isolate the faulty channel ( if it is that) by disconnecting until the problem stops.

If not there then unfortunately it will have to go in for repair . Best of luck

Possible blown fuse inside unit, unplug and remove the top cover
fuse should be near the power board and transformer. replace with exact fuse, "Never remove covers with the unit plugged in" Always wait 4 or 5 minutes after unplugging to remove the cover.Replace cover before plugging unit back in.

When i turn on my harmon kardon avr 165 it shows ''Protect'' and then it turns off again?? what can i do :)

I would try disconnecting the speakers, then turn it on. If protect still shows with no speakers connected, then it needs to go to the repair shop- Might be a blown power transistor.

My Harmon Kardon AVR 2600 goes to protect mode when powered up. After many tries it will fire up but at times it's up to twenty times. I did load the software upgrade 6 months and it has been fine

Check all speaker wiring for shorts, if okay! there is a problem in the audio output stage of the unit or the protection circuit is not working properly. I would suggest a pro to evaluate.

Need starchoice codes for Karman Kardon AVR 220

http://www.starchoice.ca/english/customercare/techcentral/remote_controls.asp

Look here for the codes to whatever remote you have. The chances are there arent any though. Harmon Kardon codes are a very unique signal that most remotes cant duplicate. More than likely you are going to have to use the original Harmon Kardon remote.

Harmon Kardon AVR300.**protect** blinks when powered on.Took cover off no obvious problem.Disconnected EVERYTHING from back panel, still blinks **PROTECT**.

The protect message means that the outputs are shorted. This is a fairly common problem that can easily be fixed by any shop that handles audio gear. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$40 range.

Audio problems using a Playstation 3

First try ensuring that "OPT 1, 2, or 3" function is selected depending which one you are using on the H/K 146 (see manual for selection instructions). Next please ensure that the PS3 audio out set to "optical" (Settings/sound settings/audio output settings/digital out+DD 5.1). That should help.
