Simple you either replace the knob assembly or use araldite and fix off the broken knob. It is only a temporary remedy and for a permanent solution please replace the knob assembly and get rid off this problem

How do I but back in knob that came out from stwich to cut on and off

assuming it is a rotary switch the back of the Knob should have a hole looking like a semi circle, the peg from the switch body itself should be a rod with a semi circular profile, just match the 2 sides up and push knob back onto switch body

Knob on amana window air conditioner cracked and won't turn on

The knob has a metal post clutch sleeve on its stem. Place a flat bladed screw driver on a small piece of flat wood a 1/4 of an inch high. Lightly pry upwards it will slowly move up and off the shaft. Now if its just cracked, get a poly solvent glue kit wrap the out side of the knob with a couple of turns of the tape cut and adhere the wrapped knob with the tape. Turn on the solvent glue tool and coat the inside of the bottom of the knob being careful not to obscure the shaft inner sleeve. Partially fill the knob, turn on the UV light and cure the cement until hardened. Repeat this step until the knob is as hard as it can get. Any over flow just carefully trim and sand. Get some model paint enamel just give it a few coats and let adequately dry between coats

I have an older a/c model no. A494901 (?). The control knob broke off. Is it very hard to replace it with a new knob? And, where would I get a new knob? Thanks, -Fran O'Neill

Depending on your break is the stem leading from the settings selector switch still there or did it break to. If it broke as well you will need to replace both the selector switch and the knob. If not the knob can be obtained from your local Sears Repair Center.

Knob control stems cracking

hello. when the stems crack, it is generally due to age and drying out of the plastic. you may be able to get new knob controls at your local appliance store. You can also do a repair with some clear one minute epoxy. J.

Volume control broken

You can purchase clear 2-part epoxy products at most home improvement stores. You will also need masking tape (or similar) a popsicle stick (or similar) a small piece of cardboard and a toothpick.
Mix the epoxy with the popsicle stick and apply a small amount to the exposed surface of the volume control's stem. Holding the knob in place, run a strip of tape from the top of the unit, across the knob and to the bottom.
These epoxies are very strong and fast setting. It's probably best to leave the tape for at least 8 hours but you should refer to the instructions for the epoxy you buy.

Good Luck,

The knob stem that for the turn on knob broke

Hello keppoet,
Since you only provided a brand and not a model number, I cannot track down the exact control knob that you require but here is a link to a website that you can use to get that part yourself. If this fails to provide the right info, please include the model number with the GE Brand next time..
Hope this helps you.. Here is the link

I have an older unit need to know what the top knob does

One of the knobs controls fan speeds, cooling speeds and an off position. Center knob controls temperature and bottom knob more than likely controls air exchange. As for the front cover it would depend on the units age as to if it would be available.
