Question about Roper RES7646KQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer not turning on

We have a roper dryer model # RED4440SQ0. Recently, it would not turn own unless you pulled back slightly on the timer dial. Today it will not turn on at all. Our guess was the timer is bad. I checked online for prices and it comes up at around $106. Would this also be your diagnosis? Does this price sound right?

Thanks for your help!

Yes sounds like bad timer. Price is retail but should be available online cheaper via eBay or amazon.

SOURCE: roper dryer won't heat

first thing is check the voltage between the black and red terminals at the back of the dryer. you should read 240v. then check the voltage between the balck and the white and the red and the white. there should be 120v at each. if all that is good remove the back of the dryer. make sure you unplug it first. then no the lower right you will see the heater. near the top of the heater you will see a red wire and a red/with a white stripe wire attached to the high limit cutout. remove one wier and check the switch for continuity. if you read nothing its bad and thats why there is o heat. Ifnit checks good replace the wire and then remove one red wire from the heater. then check the heater with your meter. most times on the whirlpool products its one of the two that is bad. check the two thing I described and if you still need help feel free to get back to me and we can go from there.Good luck

SOURCE: Roper Dryer Won't Turn On

2b3eba2.jpgThis fuse mounts on the rear blower housing. If lint builds up in the dryer this puppy will melt and shut down the dryer door circuit. It will be just as if you opened the door. Simply replacing it will get the dryer going again but failing to properly clean out the dryer will result in more fuse failures.

Ok...almost same problem...resolved by replacing thermal fuse by blower....so I guess the thermal fuse can just go with a little surge from opening closing door switch if it was already on its way out...or something...but simple fix anyway....thanks for giving me the order of things to try!

SOURCE: Roper Electric Dryer Heats but drum won't spin

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.

SOURCE: roper dryer model res7648kq0. wont turn on or heat ?

On the back side of the dryer sits the heater and various safety clixons. Any of them that would be OPEN ( no continuity) would be the problem. Here are some repair pictures

Heat is not always coming on in dryer. Roper dryer from Lowes

There are numerous temperature sensors on the dryer. Some are near the drum, some could be near the lint filter if it is located inside the dryer door. Try changing these first as they are an in expensive fix. It could also be the heating coils themselves. Highly unlikely it would be the dial, unless the dial was accidentally turned in the wrong direction.

I have a roper dryer model#red4440sq0 that i replaced the heating element in but it still doesnt get hot just warm like its on low.any ideas?also cleaned out the vent.help

That is either a bad control thermostat or a timer going bad. I would replace the control thermostat first. Keep in mind you might have a bad electrical problem too like a breaker or dryer receptacle, dryer cord or any electrical connection.

Roper dryer RED4440SQ0 how do I get to the motor?

Unplug the power cord.
Remove the lint filter. Remove 2 cabinet screws at the lint filter.
Take a flat blade screw driver and pry the right and left front corners of the lid away from the front panel. Lift the lid towards the back of the dryer and secure it. Use a 5/16 nut driver and remove the 2 screws inside the cabinet attaching the cabinet to the front panel. They are about 4 inches down from the top on the right and left. Remove the wire harness from the door switch.Pull the front panel out slightly and then pull it straight up to remove. Look under the drum on the right hand side and remove the belt from the tension roller and motor pulley. Then remove the drum.
