Dryer not turning on

We have a roper dryer model # RED4440SQ0. Recently, it would not turn own unless you pulled back slightly on the timer dial. Today it will not turn on at all. Our guess was the timer is bad. I checked online for prices and it comes up at around $106. Would this also be your diagnosis? Does this price sound right?
